856 Gflops for GPU only or chip total?

So Jan 14th for Kaveri release. I really wanted to see an octacore though but at least this should show us steamroller's IPC.

@kl0012: Most probably total but it doesn't really matter if it's total or not. CPU GFlops for AMD should only go about 50~100 GFlops for a quadcore anyway, unless AMD did something amazing, since even Ivy Bridge is at ~90 GFlops.

I assume AMD counts SP flop/s. So it would be ~120 SP gflops for 2 Steamroller modules at 3.8 GHz. This is theoretical, of cause.

BTW, just for comparison, Iris Pro 5200 at max config. ~832 gflops (GPU alone) also theoretical.

Theoretical GFLOPs calculated by AMD as 856 for AMD A10-7850K with AMD RadeonTM R7 Series Graphics. GFLOPS = CPU GFLOPS + GPU GFLOPS= CPU Core Freq (3.7Ghz) x Core count (4) x 8 + GPU Core Freq (720MHz) x Radeon Core (512) x 2

It is the peak theoretical GFLOPS for Iris Pro 5200 at Max Turbo frequencies. We don't know Max Turbo frequencies of Kaveri yet.

Yea, 7750 with lower GPU clock speed, and only DDR3

It is not going to be much faster than A10-6800K

DDR3 could be the limit for IGPU performance :-/. There must be some partial of cache for iGPU in future or GDDR5.

Can you show us benchmarks you are looking at because I'm seeing... zero benchmarks
Or is this your wish maybe?

If Kaveri wasn't going to be much faster than 6800K AMD wouldn't even bother and would wait to beef it up (clock wise). And btw, what is "much faster" in your book? Do you expect 2x improvement or something to that impossible extent? If you are then sure, you won't see 2x. But if you are expecting the generational perf. jumps that we see in discrete segment (~30-50% from gen. to gen) then you will probably see just that. And it's great.

On paper it doesn't look like big upgrade from richland

    512 shaders @720mhz is only about 13% faster than 384 shaders @844Mhz

The question remains is that how much faster GNC than VLIW4 in gaming with identical number of shaders and clock speed. As far as I know the difference is not big. Also, kaveri is stuck with slow DDR3 which might limit the performance

Wow... This comparison is sooo stupid. I wonder who is the target audience for this video... Who the f**k cares about gaming on i7-4770K with GT 630?
It would be much more reasonable if they would compare it to Iris Pro, for example... Makes me wonder why they didn't do that.

Since AMD has disappointed me so many times, the question now is whether there will be actual products in retail for us HTPC builders in mid january? Or do we have to wait again six month from the point of promise yet again?
