Question top of the line quad channel ram 3970x extreme/rampageIV extreme board new build....

hello memory people, I see the trident x and other quad memory out there, lets say you wanted the fastest tightest quad memory for OC
a new system 3970x extreme and rampageIV extreme......12gb memory or 16gb....
if money was not too much of problem and you wanted to get the best, what would you suggest on memory

    thank you
    Thanks Eagle101

You could pick up a Xeon E5-1650 for fairly cheap and clock it to the moon. A Xeon E5-1660 is also an option and clocks well (especially the IMC), but is a much more expensive part for only marginal gains. With both Xeon options you have official PCI-E 3.0 support as well, something the i7-3970X lacks.

Thanks for the help (or lack thereof) in resolving my P3700 issue, FUGGER...

the 3970x is an 8 core xeon with 2 cores cut off, the 3930k is a 6 core with nothing disabled. the 3930k also tends to clock higher as they are the higher leakage xeons, but the 3970x is just random broken ones.
