    Price is good, performance is excellent, watercool it, enthusiast don't care about power, watercooling again or just throw some headphones in.

    Done!

    I love this part

    DirectX 11.2 is not supported on Windows 7 and requires Windows 8.1, yet Windows 8 and its successor, Windows 8.1, are incredibly unpopular with PC gamers (at least our forum members) due to the idiotic user-interface that insults our intelligence.
    It looks like we can overclock the memory with little to no resistance... considering
    The GDDR5 memory chips are made by SK Hynix and carry the model number H5GQ2H24AFR-R0C. They are specified to run at 1500 MHz (6000 MHz GDDR5 effective).

    I believe it is Microsoft decision in order to sell the Windows 8.1. AMD can only include the support for DirectX 11.2 in the hardware and drivers for Windows which supports it.
    I also believe AMD was just about always first to support the newest DirectX in hardware and software.

    Guys I've heard that if you going to Use R9 290X CF you will need PCI-E 3.0 port only!! the user who wants R9 290X CF cards therefore force employers P67 platforms and oldest platforms from Intel and all AMD platforms to updated Their own platforms to Z77, Z87 and X79 to keep pace with the evolution of tech cards so he can run R9 290X CF!!

    Is this true or what? if true......No Comment!

    Triple fan heat pipe and Vapor chamber coolers will do a fine a job cooling this down by 20-25?C.

    Let's hope this puts the pressure on Nvidia to significantly drop the price of the 780 or Titan. The 780 is slightly edged out by the R290x in many benchmarks yet the R290x is $100 less than the 780. Knowing Nvidia though... they'll probably hold their prices for as long and as high as they can. And hopefully we'll see market prices for the R290x for even lower than MSRP.

    yeah that cooler is ridiculous. they should have used this blower cooler on the regular 290, and only big 3rd party coolers on 290x.

    290x = GTX480 ?

    Great performance, very impressive, especially at 4K! But it comes at high cost, 95c is insane, power consumption through the roof, noisy. I guess AMD is no longer about power efficiency. Great pricing, really will force nVidia to take their prices down.

    Great performance, very impressive, especially at 4K! But it comes at high cost, 95c is insane, power consumption through the roof, noisy, they desperately need a new cooler design. Poor-ish overclocks. Can't say I'm impressed at all with the PowerTune algorithms either. I guess AMD is no longer about power efficiency. Great pricing, otherwise reviews would have been more critical, but it really will force nVidia to take their prices down.

    Nice performance, runs pretty much as fast as the Titan if not faster in some benchmarks. Hope NVIDIA will drop the prices of GTX 780 and especially Titan because it was never worth the $1K price tag anyway, and it will be pointless for them to continue to sell it at $1K since the R9 290X is out now. What bothers me about the R9 290X is the temperature, but yet again, its a reference card and they always run warm, better to wait till AIB's release their own non reference cooling design will solve this issue.

    The MSRP of 550$ is very nice, that puts it quite lower then the 780GTX while offering same/better performance the it.

In the near future Crossfire bridges will be thing of the past as AMD is going to run Crossfire over the PCI Express bus. Especially with standards like PCI-E Gen 3.0 there's plenty of bandwidth there, but even at Gen 2.0, it really is not an issue. For the R290 cards setup in Crossfire, PCIE Gen 3.0 is recommended. What if you do not have PCIE 3.0 compatibility ? Well, the bus will revert to Gen 2.0 which will probably not make more then a marginal difference as it is really hard to flood even two x8 Gen 2.0 ports.
