I don't see the problem with it running that warm really long as I can maintain decent clocks, I guess you could tweak the fan profile to your liking.

Already a lot louder than 780/Titan, adding more fan speed just makes it a jet engine from the reviews I'm reading. Still this is a very impressive card and at $550 is going to make NVidia have to adjust their lineup a LOT. I wonder if we'll see a GTX 680-like situation with the 780 Ti, where it comes in at $50 cheaper, and runs cooler/quieter/faster... we can only wish.

Is this true or what? if true......No Comment!
Not true. There's more than enough bandwidth on a PCI-E 2.0 interface to support two R9 290X's.

Anyone know where you can get brackets adapters for the Corsair self-contained water-coolers for the 290(x)? The guy who used to make them for last generation cards shut down. I think the 290x is a perfect candidate for water cooling.

Here is the message. Probably no problem because warning is produced from a malicious URL database (an advertisement url i suppose) but it is better for them to check imo.

I get why Windows 8 gets a bad rap, but have you actually tried out 8.1? I've found it to be a huge upgrade over Windows 7

Has anyone heard anything about the pricing of the R9 290? Judging from the results and pricing of the 290X, if they market that around $450 we could have a steal on our hands

i found it a huge troublemaker after windows7. usb3.0 issue, driver issues had to go back to win7. i am sure it will be better in time but now it is not for me.

There isn't much tweaking left tho it's already near 100%, only custom cooling solutions or WC will do.
And the card throttles a lot based on some reviews, I wonder what will happen if the room temperature is higher, will it even come close to max clocks?

FYI- about the temp, it is purposely staying at the highest boost bin possible to allow the most performance while staying at/under 95C and within whatever the power limit is set to.

I have been wondering the same thing myself, when I get the money together for a new card its either gonna be a 280x or 290.

So i guess we can pretty much expect even better performance from 3-party cooling solutions like lightnings, DirecitCU II Tops, Windforce X3 and water cooling ?

Slightly better performance in quiet mode, yes. In most cases Uber mode is staying at max bin.

Also, it appears that AMD worked the fan speed/noise into the Power Tune algorithm.
Edit- Which leads to the question of how the 3rd party coolers are going to be worked into it, if at all.

OMG FRIGGING AWESOME ..... im broke BUT OMG !!! I remember reading a lot of big shot posters with know's in the industry posting AMD wasnt releasing anything new at all this year .

550$ TITAN KILLER !!! GG AMD GG. Haha no wonder Nvidia is trying 780ti now watch them make something as hot and as powerhungry.

290 is gonna hit a real sweetspot at a lower pricepoint and 90% the performance.

At the end this level of performance with this price now it makes sense why nvidia is paniced. But still hardware failures must be like other cards. This is the only question left in my mind about success of 290x which time will tell.
