    Crucial M500 240GB OR Samsung 840 250GB (Experience)?

I was in the market for SSD and came across the following, and it seems like a very tempting bargain, but debating either do with Crucial or Samsung

    Samsung 840 250GB $139

    Crucial M500 240GB $149
    Dell Ultra Sharp 24" LCD
    Core i7 920 @ 4GHZ
    Gigabyte EX58-UD5
    2 GIG Wintec AMPX DDR3 @ 1600mhz
    ATI 4850 512MB
    Sweiftech Dual MCR320 Radiators
    Dtek Fuzion + MCW60 + MCW30 blocks.
    ATI 650 Pro HDTV Wonder
    (2 X 150GB RAPTORS) RAID 0
    Thermaltake Armor LCS

Both are sataIII both have 3 year warranty both are good, samsung 840 more popular based on # of reviews on newegg (726 vs 35 reviews).
Mild preference for samsung due to small increase in capacity.

Also - why is this in "extreme" storage?

i would go m500 all the way. the 840 non pro uses cheap TLC and you have to provision it so you only get 209GB of usable space from the 250GB drive. the m500 uses normal MLC with a longer life span per cell.

I just found this post after posting something similar but for a 1TB SSD.

If they both have a 3 year warranty is the reliability factor not moot? The way things are going and still developing with SSD's and prices dropping too, then after a 3 year warranty expired I'd be looking at a newer gen larger capacity SSD if I were to replace it?

If we put that equation aside then its down to price and performance or even stock availability I guess.

you can get the evo with MLC now from samsung for the same price so the 840 normal should never be purchased.
