Any week in November is fine by me. Still have plenty of time to get my farm ready. Yes, it is starting to look like a farm. Before this weekend I will have 4 generations of i7 cpu's running.

Frankly not tempting. I cannot come close to justifying over $300

I'd stay away from them..4770K is the one today to build..3770K isn't bad if it's cheap and same with the 2600K but the 4770K is the one you want

I'm not sure about what the 4770k will do, but the little I have seen about them around here looks good. Like MM said, a good increase compared to the 3770k.

Temps could be a problem. The 2600k I have doesn't have any problems. The my 3770 (at stock speeds) runs hot. That is with the stock cooler and an extra 120mm fan on top of it.

For the 4770k I have a Noctua cooler ready. But if needed I can swap it with the 2600k and use the watercooling. The 2600k should do fine on air.

Have to rebuild the 4-8 pin adaptor to get my Q6600 up and running. Old one didn't look real good. Burnt a couple of wires off, actually. Surprised it was still running.

Go linux for SCW, use 16gb USB thumbdrive - it's enough.

Install system on USB instead of HDD + http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...linux-Tutorial ( Evantaur)

I use a free Android app and ssh to administer linux machines in the house if I can be bothered doing it from a tiny assed touch screen.
