Wow talk about upping the ante. Just when i was extremely impressed with AMD for getting back in the game (still am), nVidia go and do this, sheer arrogance yet utterly impressive. The Special edition sounds sick, exciting times.

Question (to lazy to search it out): When is Maxwell coming out, i mean the higher end cards?

Just do not want to spend 1000 on a special edition and in March/April a high -end Maxwell comes.

I'm curious on high-end 20nm Maxwell myself... I'm very tempted to go for a 780 Ti... I've seen info from early-mid 2014 to late Q3/mid-Q4 as timeframes for 20nm though .

Do not forget the cost of manufacturing became very scary
By the way this chart developed by the company Cadence using EDA software to compare the accuracy of manufacturing investments 32/28nm and 22/20nm,

Makes you wonder why they even called the Titan that name to begin with.

    [XC] Oj101,

does Nvidia allow 6 GB for the normal 780 Ti (and custom versions of it) or only for the 780 Ti Black Edition?

I wait to see how mantle performs and than decide...what I know is that I really like this price war.
Also a vanilla 780 for the new price could be very good

Yeah its all damn great.I have a feeling R290 can be a value king, If the early results are real. With all this going on, i would strongly suggest holding on to end of november at least, theres a high probability AMD will even get lower with R290X after the 780 price cut.

Leaked performance of gtx 780 ti.

About 15 percent better than a 290x and titan. Very similar performance to a gtx 690. It performs similar to a 290x at 4k.

Just looking at google translate and I am read the person mentioning 34% over standard boost clock is possible so 1244mhz which lines up with the currently leaked info. Depending on the voltage this might be impressive or just so so.

Depending on how real these leaks are and if the gtx black lines up being about 10 or so percent faster from the increase clocks(11% faster clocks), they could almost be in almost the same position as prior to 290x launch.

However, AMD could still counter with an overclocked 290x from partners.

I think the gtx 780 ti should take the comfortably the performance crown.

It depends on how much more and the testing methodology. If we are getting 80 extra watts over a gtx titan for 15 percent more speed(what it would take for it to consume more than a 290x), Nvidia seriously let people down by giving people A1 steppings. A respin and binning should get people 15% more performance without efficiency going out the door.

If its more or less the same as 290x, with 15% more performance and being quieter, I think its acceptable because basically we are getting gtx 690 performance in around the same power envelope. Nvidia stressed that this card is quiet, so I don't expect a big increase in noise over its other cards. One more thing is I wouldn't want the cards to run at 95C. Nvidia has been about balance and finesse this generation with little weakpoints aside from cost.

but thats not what the graphs show... its more/same power consumption as 690 with less performance then a 690.

Anyway I wait for reviews from the usual sources where they actually give details about configurations and testing methods.

Those power consumption numbers are weird and I don't talk about 780Ti numbers but the others are already known and they don't look like that.
In this leak, Titan consumes moar power than 290X. We all know that's not true.

Your right, those titan numbers seem off. I don't remember seeing a single review where titan consumed the same power as a 290x, let alone instances where it consumes more.

I remember pendent1 saying something about this possibly a1 stepping though and if it does use the same chip with more volts, its a lazy move.

And it will be just like the 7970 ghz launch. Where the general consensus that its a so so product, has the performance, but just adding voltage and expecting the cooler to pick up the rest of the slack is lazy. Your better off buying its not overclocked siblings and overclocking the card yourself and not paying the overclocking fee.

But unfortunately, people don't have the choice like the 7970 ghz. gtx 780 has such a big compromises when it so disabled and titan is likely being discontinued and is super expensive.

I would not get a gtx 780 ti until I get b1 or b2 stepping.

If the extra overclocking headroom is just because Nvidia gave us more voltage than the gtx titan. In addition if they are using a1 stepping, they should have been able to give this product to us months ago. The same time as the gtx 780 launch.

if we ignore the benchmarks tests what i see is at 4k 1 win for 290x 1 win for 780ti and a draw. But when the resolution goes down 780ti opens the gap. somebody here (forgot who) predicted this.

Note that videocardz.com say the 780 Ti is overclocked. That might explain the high power draw. But then the performance would be meh.

ha ha ha ha, it consumer less then 290x and is cooler

and yes, that performance is correct. in 20 games at 2560x1600, it is from 2 to 45 percents above 290x uber mode. average performance is 13 percents above uber moded radeon

default perf it is not last thing, we have here new feature for overclocking, and better consistent fps.

Hm, but that implies that it consumes more power than Titan. I had hoped it would consume the same amount but at higher performance.
