    Sat..11am..my doorbell rings..

I get my lazy arse up out of bed and go to the door..
There's a box and I was expecting one but this isn't it.
I look at the return address and beside the name I see " XS Yojimbo197"
and I recognise that name but I don't know this guy well.
I see him post, he comes across as a good guy but we've never spoken in person or on the phone so inside it goes,
I toss on the coffee to wake up and start to open it wondering what is going on?????
Inside is a Kingston HyperX 120 gig SSD.
Now I'm REALLY confused and I mean REALLY!!!!
I post on my FB page about this and get a message that says "Don't just toss it in and format it" and now the lightbulbs are starting to go off and one name comes to mind..OLD_CHAP.. It has to be him..and this thing must have LINUX on it..
    ( Intuitive little bastage aren't I? )
Old chap has been at me for at least two years to "do linux" and it is on my to-do list but way at the bottom.
I guess he decided to motivate me!
I just want to say thanks to both of you..
Damn, what am I going to do with you guys!

Why would you want to just format a perfectly good SSD anyway ???

Where does one send an ssd for Linux? From everything I've seen looks like roughly a 50% improvement.

Cor blimey guv'nor The things these people get up to.

Back awhile during the immediate aftermath of your "episode" I had the feeling that you were struggling with the idea that your get up and go had got up and gone. So, the plan was to maybe do something for you in the same manner that you are always doing things for others. Something that might bring a smile to your face if nothing else.

I had to enlist the help of yojimbo for this to have any chance of succeeding in keeping you guessing for a while.

Jim, watching the hours pass as this little story unfolded and until Dave made the connection has been worth it so may I take this opportunity to thank you for your efforts in purchasing on your side of the pond, Formatting, loading Mint and WCG etc.

Dave, my part in this has been small, in fact all I did was hatch the cunning plan

I hope this has brought a smile to your face in the same way it did for me when you enlisted the help of all those crunchers to crunch on my account earlier this year (well at the very least you facilitated that whole episode)

Hopefully you will have a moment to switch this ssd in to one of your 2cpu rigs once all the benching is complete and then benefit from the ~40% extra points.

Never in the history of this place did anyone get such an easy start to Linux

I am sure I speak for all here when I say I wish you well my friend. We do appreciate the things you have done, and continue to do, for the family that is Team XS

ps. Jim, How many GB's of pron did you manage to get on there in the end ??

Again, my thanks to both of you guys.
Your right, my get up and go got up and went.
    Still very little energy.
I walk 100 ft and have to stop for a few to let my blood recover.
Here's the plan: I like to keep windows on my main machine.
Sometime this week a pair of 12 core E5-2697 V2's is supposed to arrive and these E5-2687W V2 8 cores get returned.
The 12 cores will go in here and my 10 core E5-2670 V2's will go in the X9DAi mid tower and I will bench the 12's, submit my results then toss that drive with linux on the 12's and use the 10 core as my daily driver. When the 12's go back as they eventually will have to I will use the 10's and the SB E5-2687W's. Those two machines should be worth 40+K a day and I have another beast of a AMD flavor that should finally get up near the end of the month with some 6386 SE's(2x16 core at 3200MHz) Long story on those. I have one and the other has traveled the world twice and been held at US Customs twice but it managed to "walk" into the country a few days ago and should be here soon..I wonder what 32 AMD cores at 3200 will do?
Oh Anubis: My guess is a dual E5-2697 V2 OC'd to 3226 will do much more than 30K BOINC a day,
Think this way: It's 24 IB cores at 3226Mhz or 77,424MHz or essentially like 5-4770K's running at 4GHz on one board..
I think 35+K-BOINC/day or 250,000 WCG PPD is a pretty safe guess.

There wasn't enough space for GILF :banana::banana::banana:.

I did add a picture of an AC Cobra roosterpit as his wallpaper/backround.

Sidenote: You know I understand wanting block swear words, but the inside of a car or airplane?

Oh, the 12c/24t crazy twins will most definetly blow past 30k. I was talking about E5-2687W V2's on linux

Rgd the 6386SE's - on linux I'd put them at ~18K.

So, ~18K (2x6386SE's Linux) + ~21K (2x2690v2 Win) + ~37K (2x2697v2 Linux)... should be interesting. You need only one dually more to play the "almost 100k" game.

edit: more likely 18K for 2x6386SE's, 20+ would need them to be locked to max turbo on all cores.
