    Crunching on MacPro using Linux

So I setup Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon on a 80Gb hard drive for use on my new used MacPro workstation equipped with a Intel W3520 CPU, 6Gb of Hynix RAM (3x2Gb) DDR 1066Mhz, and AMD Radeon 4870 video card. Unfortunately, when I started doing crunching using Linux Mint 14 on the MacPro, CPU core temps quickly reached the low to mid 90's Celsius when 100% CPU load was achieved and stayed in the 90's until I aborted crunching. Is there a good workaround or fan control program in Ubuntu or Linux Mint 14 that is compatible with the MacPro fan setup?

Before you start, can you do anything in bios?

Use your package manager to look for "fancontrol" and see if that works for you

When it comes to Mac's, I am pretty much a noob. I have no idea how to get into the BIOS.

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure how to use the package manager to do that either. Google time!

menu> one of the main icons that comes up is the package manager, roll over and see the description then click it> depending on how you set up it may ask you to sign in> top right search box enter fancontrol and enter> doubleclick the selection > hit install. You will have to read the notes or google how to though for useage.
