    New SSD, Windows not installing

Hi all, I just bought a i7 4770K with a Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC and a new SSD, a Samsung 840 EVO 500Gb but I cannot install Windows 7 on it not matter what. I cannot even format the drive in Windows, using diskpart or booting from the Win 7 DVD, it throws back an error every time. I assumed that it must be faulty and have got a replacement and its doing the same thing!

I think it may be an out of date motherboard BIOS or drivers being needed during install but there are none on the CD provided and I have search everywhere and no one else seems to have the same problem.

I have my old SSD currently installed with no problems at all (an Intel X-25M 160Gb).

    Any suggestions?

Why not update the bios & try again?

I have had a similar problem before & found my dvd & ssd did not like to be on the same controller or channel. Maybe worth a go moving sata ports.

It could be the SSD. or the ssd Cable you are using. Which SATA port are you using on the Z87X OC. Have ever updated MB BIOS?

It could be your Windows setup corrupted or something else. Try installing with a USB stick or use a different version of Windows. Have you tried doing a Secure Erase on the SSD?
