Scroll down a bit, and look under "Expansion Options".

Unless Intel is wrong and you're right...

Also, Xeon E5-1600 is actually uses a Romley-EP based IMC.
Well that's new. Could have sworn there was an errata out on E5 EP's regarding PCI-E 3.0. Maybe new steppings or I was looking at the wrong doc? Time to reset uptime on my E5 machines and enable PCI-E3.0 with new BIOS

Any ideas about unlocked multi on the new E5-1600 V2's? The E5-1680 V2 is very interesting, 8 core unlocked multi would be fantastic.

I still had to force PCI-E 3.0 using the NVidia registry patch in Windows 7 to get PCI-E 3.0 out of my video cards, but it works perfectly. The PCI-E slots do show up properly as 3.0 in the BIOS by default, however.

I just became aware of the E5-1680 V2 a few hours ago...and was very happy to see it. It's not the 12 core version that I'd like to see, but it's a big step. I've already begun praying that they're unlocked. Unfortunately, these new chips are OEM only, which'll make them a bit more of a pain to get a hold of. I'll snag one as soon as they become available...

Thanks for the help (or lack thereof) in resolving my P3700 issue, FUGGER...

    Can't see the E5-1680 V2 on that list...maybe it's been removed?

I did find it from ITCreations in the US, but they have none ATM. The fact that this CPU is pretty much the only Xeon E5 V2 that isn't in stock anywhere leads me to believe that it was a late breaking release decision from Intel and not originally planned. I think this CPU may be a feeler from Intel to gauge interest for higher core count CPUs on the desktop. A great first step, but a pity it's not SMP capable, available in a retail version, or more widely publicized. If it indeed proves to be unlocked, it will end up being a very significant CPU that should sell fairly well...and may lead to an i7-4980x in the future.

The success or failure of this CPU all hinges on whether or not it ends up being unlocked...I'm eager to find out...
