stevil got his kt333 to 210fsb i think

since kt333s are beefed up kt266a boards with a 1/5 divider i'll just post my kt266a record as well
my 4ss-rock kt266a board does 190fsb 100% stable with a 66mhz ide card and a g4mx, not bad for a 1/4 divider . crappy rails atm, will mod my second psu and see how high i can get with it.

whats the secret to getting 8k3a's up so high, i hit a wall at 205 for stability and 211 max bench ever but i hear the 3.3v line really needs to be high to get the most? As mines at 3.25 i guess that might be why im still down low 200s

does anybody know how to raise the chipset voltage on a kt266a board? cant find anything...

    Couldn't agree more!!

I still run an Abit KR7A-133, set to 174 Mhz FSB for daily use (43.5 Mhz PCI), and a KX7-333 set at 185 Mhz FSB for daily use (37 Mhz PCI). It's fun to crank either of these boards over 200 Mhz FSB and show off the two year old hardware. I regularly embarrass some of the brand new stuff. The Ultra-Agressive timings offered by these boards meant that FSB Mhz to FSB Mhz, they destroyed most any other brand. The fact that they show no IDE corruption even at over 45 Mhz PCI speeds is a testament to how good these boards are.

I have done stability tests on my KR7A-133 at 50 Mhz PCI, and after 24 hour of Prime95, had no errors.

    All this, and air cooled!
    Gaming settings

    Abit NF7-S V2.0 @ 210 x12 (no mods), Air cooled, interface enabled 3:3 ratio, stock D27 BIOS
    CPU: XP-M 2400+ (IQYHA 0402)
    RAM: 2 x 512mb @ 2-2-2-11 dual channel
    Video FX5950 Ultra @ 500/995
    PSU: FSP-550

P95 stable (max) 221 x 11 same settings as above.

The 8k3a's had "Fast Command Decode" disabled over 166mhz FSB... Abit's did not. This is the majority of the performance difference.

The performance difference was eliminated with 10-15 extra mhz FSB, not 30-40... With that said... The kx7-333r were definitely the best performers overall.

BTW, my 8k3a ran at 230mhz fsb (On a cool morning ) .

    I dont think so !
It was an Bios Prob, and with the newer Bioses they fixed
    that "Bug".

With old Bios u had on Memory Bandwith Benchmark @ 200 MHz
    2500 - 2600 but with the newer ones ~ 3000 Points.

Someone have still an KX333 in operation, and want to make
    some Benches @ 200 MHz and 2-2-5-2 2T ? (same Multi)

    I want to know it

Actually, the older 8k3a BIOS had it enabled, and the performance was great... but no one could go over 185-190mhz FSB... the 8k3a2815 bios (from August 15th 2002) was the last one with FCD enabled over 166mhz ... ALL BIOS after that one have FCD disabled over 166mhz.

The newer BIOS's ALL had FCD disabled over 166mhz. It was not a bug, it was disabled purpously to achieve the highest possible FSB. Eventually they got the memory scores up there with the competition, but overall performance was never as good "clock per clock" as mobo's with FCD enabled. As I said above an extra 10-15 mhz FSB would even out the speed difference.

For me... I got up to 185mhz FSB with older FCD enabled bios(Which equals about 200mhz FSB w/ disabled) However, with newer FCD disabled bios, I hit 230mhz... much better scores

Plz post ur Northbridge Cooling !

Im only @ stock passiv Cooler.

Ur PCI and VGA Cards are very importent !

With an Ati, its very hard to hit > 210.

All ur Parts must be perfect to hit such a FSB.
When i did those screenshots I was just using a little heatsink (a bit bigger than the stock one) with a 40mm fan. Afterwards i chucked the watercooling on it and i couldn't get any higher.

As for video card, i was using an Radeon 8500 which can handle high AGP busses very well. Later on i used the same 8500 in an NF2 board and ran the AGP bus at 95MHz or 100MHz (can't remember which one, but it was the highest the bios would allow) and it ran perfectly with everything i threw at it (3dmark etc). Later on i tested a Radeon 9800pro in the 8K3A and i couldn't get over 218MHz FSB with it, so it is only the newer ATI's that have problems with high AGP speeds. The older ones seem fine with it.

As for PCI cards, i didn't use any at all. The only time i need a PCI card is when i go to LAN's, and then i just chuck that card in.

As for Hard drive, i used a 40GB 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda IV. It is still running perfectly till this day, so it must also like high PCI speeds.

WPCREDIT was nice for the Epox 8K3A+.

Too bad my board didnt like going past 210... if I had known the 3.3v mod around then you may have seen me in the 225-240 range (yes, some did go 240+ with 3.3v mods).

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
