Asus to "update" X79 lineup for Ivybridge-E

while strolling my usual forums I cought this little nugget from Forum Moderator HiVizMan on the ROG forums

    Some posts on overclockers.co.uk: (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=18478446)

It would be Rampage V Formula for X79 and I am not sure about this one never asked R and D team.

@Helios probably if you have Ivy E. As the board is built from the ground up to maximize the overclocking and IMC on this chip.

I will let you guys know as soon as I can.

Yes there is!!! I am will have one very soon

I have to demo it on launch so practice time is paramount post Games Con.

Yeh what is up with the gold... like Gigabyte did (or whoever) then just everyone had to jump on board without even wondering if people like the color to begin with! Even my Asrock Z87 OC Formula has that stuff on it.

Black and gold is generally a classy combination of colours, ROG colours are best though and easier to colour match parts with (who makes gold accessories and ram sticks?) lol

I was just about to buy an R4E, so this news is just in time for me, I eagerly await news.

Agreed...really gaudy looking. I prefer the plain, understated black. They can even bling up a black board...carbon fiber something...

According to some research people in Asia seem really fond of the gold colour scheme, I much prefer their blue colour scheme. I can't stand red and black, it has been done to death.

Before all of what is revealed? A new board based on X79 is more of the same. Intel has given them an old jalopy and asked them to put a new coat of paint on it to make it appear new. But underneath, it's still the same old neutered X79...and although Asus is good, there's nothing they can do to change that unfortunate reality.

Well I'm looking forward to it, coming from an amd.
I was sick of buying a rig, top of the line at the time and still have it feel like it's 3 gens back.
That's what it felt like with amd and it's mem clocking,.. and now it's overall cpu performance.
    Oh and it's crappy bios'es .

I'm sure as heck aren't gonna buy another amd until they can get the performance back up.
From my standpoint, amd wise there's nothing to upgrade to (except bios support lol), intel is the only choice.
And seeing that a new cpu is coming out, perhaps board refreshes, and lower power consumption and potentially the highest performing last of the ddr3 gen... I'm actually happy to see this.
And besides they aren't supposedly disabling cores this time around, might help a bit with power consumption.

I'll be skipping ddr4, it's like ddr2 to me, useless until the very end.
Say I decide to jump on board at that time and all the sudden ddr5 comes along so screw ddr4 .

    Edit:
Oh and asus, please allow the bios to clock the pcie bus..., up past 250mhz pretty please .

No game improvements, don't give a rat's ass. (and that goes for both Asus' new lineup and Ivybridge-e) If I'm doing anything else I never wait around for it. That's the beauty of owning multiple rigs...
