Cool I got the money for this, just waiting now.
Boards I'm guessing will show up in 2 months.
Though being towards the end of the year as it is, maybe end of sep mid oct.

I would hope they use 4 port usb chips this time around...
No sense not to, they've been around long enough, excluding that guru3d news post that says otherwise...
And dual lan, gotta have that, seriously though on that one, it would suck to buy the latest extreme board if there's not.

Since this seems to be a well kept secret should we expect a delay of several weeks until these parts show up in retail?

This seems insane to ask but is there any announcement as to when the announcement is to be made?

just posted right now on facebook from asus rog : ( https://www.facebook.com/rognordic?r...ocation=stream)

We heard that the recommended specs were out for #BF4. What do you think, is this a good foundation to build on?

And yes, everyone, that is the ROG Rampage IV Black Edition hiding beneath those 4 watercooled ASUS GTX TITAN.
i guess that can hold me off for now after the long wait. hope it made u you feel better too

So we are getting a RIVE Black Edition, there does not appear to be any fresh updates unless it was pulled already?

i know how it feels that urge of needing to know what will come up. i wish i had any answers. but from different posts and facebook yes its the RIVE Black edition. this is different than The RIVE Black which was exactly the same as the RIVE but only with black color (http://rog.asus.com/224992013/rampag...h-exclusivity/)

but if you see the pic above from the OC event you will notice that there is no mosfet heatsinks on the mobo, probably like always making them finalized for a final different look than the original RIVE.

I see they killed the hands-free voltage measurement check points like they did on the Maximus V to Maximus VI transition. Those things are handy.

I would be soldering leads on there anyways.
I really appreciate the Wi-Fi not using up PCI-E slot eating up 8X when its only using 1x to!

Thats an amazing motherboard! The built in headphone amp and 120 DB SNR would mean I no longer need an audiophile grade soundcard.

Just saw the news on guru3d.

    My gripes..., this isn't a rant ...

    Speaking of test points.
The board looks like it has them.
I have the same type on my board, I think its kinda dangerous they way they are, one slip of the ground or positive probe and whoops bye bye board...
That always scared the crap out of me when I used them.

I would prefer 2 pin connecters, like that temp probe hookups have.
So one could just plug in 2 wires and have a voltage readout without worrying about slipping up.
And that would it could be hooked up permanently to a readout panel of some sort if someone managed to make something like that - that was decent.

    Elna caps on the audio?
I thought elna was low end crap?
    Hmm, I guess I don't know.

No dual lan , thats a bummer, but it has wireless.
I wonder what kind of wireless chip it is, I'm assuming it'll be the same as the previous gens board.
I just haven't looked it up yet, hoping it's a realtek, if not its kinda pointless, to me anyways.
Heard it was replaceable with a standard mpcie board though, so it probably doesn't matter.
Apparently they do make mpcie ethernet cards ^^, that's something to think about (there doesn't seem to be much out there for that though).
I was just thinking, it would be nice maybe to have a capture card there, I'm just rambling now.

Anyways from what was said on guru3d, it seems they went through some layout changes to get the mem to clock "better" (better could mean better timings or better handling of more mem, OR higher clocks...).

Oh and one more gripe, power and reset buttons :|.
    Hate the design, always have.
I just think they look dorky.
But ohwell, no one is gonna turn down a bad @ss board just because it has lame looking buttons on it.

As for the audio, 120db, seems like that could be nice.
Audio on my board is god awefull (I think it is..., after listing to so much classical music on it), hoping this will be an improvement.

I'm pretty excited though, lets see some mem clocks on this mofo.
I really hope we can clock the pcie bus though, it doesn't do much but still, I would like all my bus speeds to have a 50% increase across the board (isa, dma, pci and pcie), just for piece of mind .
I mean, seriously you guys clocking that that stuff is not hard... (I laugh when people say oh you'll corrupt your drives and blah blah)

    Oh one more thing.
    The mem slots, scare me.
I do know though now that 8 layer pcb mem sticks work much better then avg sticks though in those type of slots.
I had a heck of alot of probs with this type in the past, on my board.
Once in a while having to reinsert the sticks to get it to post.
    Pain in the bum.
I only buy 8 layer pcb sticks now anyways though so it don't matter.
I just don't like the noise it makes when inserting sticks, sounds like its scratching the hell out of the connectors.
The crinkling noise, like either one day the slot will split in half, or I'll rip off a finger on a stick of ram.
The whole princeable really bothers me, ohwell though like I said it's fine for the most part with thicker pcb's.
It just makes me shiver thinking about inserting a stick of ram lol, like someone using there nails on a black board.

Heard there were some issues with those dual socket boards.
I don't think they are as supported as well as they high end single sockets :\.

    Edit:
Back on topic, dual removable bios'es, yummy .
That is the way it's supposed to be .

    Oh I have a ? you guys.
What kind of i/o chip does it have?
Ite, or whatever, the chip where the 1st half of the snesors are plugged into, ps2 is hooked into and so on.
I'm wondering where on the board it's located, the reason why I'm asking, not that anyways cares...
Is because the farther away the i/o chip is (isa and dma bridges), from the pci bus (south bridge chipset), the worse it clocks.
And no I'm not trying to sound like a know it all d!ck, I just wanna know for piece of mind (it's one of the things I always look at).

    Edit:

Nm what I said previously about the mem slots, I realize that they have to be that way unless you want to mess with the vga cards every time.

Rog page seems to hint that this might not be the retail ver.
    http://rog.asus.com/261852013/rampag...1-motherboard/

Maybe they'll add a fan to the chipset, I don't know.
I'm wondering about that pwm heatsink, can the m-pcie card even be removed.
Then I got thinking, I kinda wish the board had a hybrid water block setup type of deal, but I doubt it'll have it, but that would of been awesome.

Looking for news from idf 2013 I can across a guy from gigabyte showing off a 2011 mobo, said it won't be released for a couple of months.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwTi_WY_Eco

But anyways one can only wait.
At least we have an idea of what we're getting in the future.

I wouldn't go that far. Unless they've changed ASUS still uses Realtek. While ASUS, Gigabyte (and I think MSI and even Biostar on some models) now have fairly good onboard audio, it still doesn't stack up to a dedicated card.
