Pity, since people of the likes of Gabe mainly work on product performance and customer relations.

somebody should start a kickstart campaign to donate fund and take the fight to Asetek in court and put an end to patent trolling.

Swiftech wasn't the first company hit with this patent problem. Cooler Master is the guinea pig challenging Asetek's claims in court.

I don't think that is the issue really Greg.
I think it's the pump mounted on the block that is the problem.

I thought swiftech was the first on the market with a pump and block on the same unit.

Doesn't matter. Just like how Apple wasn't the first to do a lot of things, but were the first to patent it (and subsequently troll with), Asetek was the one to get the patent papers.

    http://www.swiftech.com/pr-8-7-07-apogee-drive.aspx

According to this, they patented the idea and this was back in 2007.

But really, its swiftech that should be collecting all these royalty fees. They are one of if not the only original water cooling company to be alive today.

Gabe just needs to sell it separate, not as a full kit. maybe in 2 pieces or just parts only. the patent relates only to a full system. i can see how a court could not differentiate between a closed loop system and the one swiftech offers. However, it is sad that this patent got approved as it is in the first place as it essentially rules out any competition for this market without provision for licensing rights. it creates a default monopoly.

i can only say, let your money talk people. stop buying their coolers and they will open up

Pretty sure it's the unit as a whole, connected into one contiguous, drop-in loop. If it were just the pump-on-block concept, they would have to pull the Apogee Drive (well, Apogee Drive II now) off the market too.

I take back what I said before. I don't want these systems anymore. This is going to be my 2nd RMA for these H220's. I thought these things were supposed to last for a few years?

Sounds like the loop doesn't have any coolant in it. How are the temps?
