    Corsair Vengeance Pro CMY16GX3M2A2400C10R 2x8GB DDR3-2400 C10

    Test Setup:
    CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K
    Mobo: Gigabyte Z87X-OC Force
    PSU: Antec TPQ-1200
Cooling: Corsair H100 + stock fans
    OS: Windows 8 Enterprise x64

I've been going crazy buying MFR since I moved to the Haswell platform, having had excellent results with some low binned Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 1866C10 (pushed to 2933 C12 with 1.85V+). I really liked the look of the Vengeance Pro but all the online reviews thus far have had Ver4.21 kits using Samsung 4Gbit ICs, which as we all know aren't stable past DDR3-2550 or so. A local retailer got these in stock, and since the kits are out on the racks you can check the packaging for serials, etc before buying. It turns out the ones they have are Ver5.29 using Hynix MFR, so I grabbed a kit.

    Heatspreader pulled, clearly Hynix MFR:

At first, the results were beyond disappointing. I couldn't get them to boot at anything higher than 2666, though they pulled that off with stock voltage:

    DDR3-2666 11-13-13-35-2T@1.65v Super Pi 32M

I was somewhat pleased to find they could run DDR3-2400 Cas9 though it took considerable voltage.

    DDR3-2400 9-11-11-28-1T@1.795v (=1.80v real) Super Pi 32M
    i7 4930K
    32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3-2400C10
    Asus Rampage IV Black Edition
    2x GeForce GTX 780
    Corsair AX1200
    Cooler Master HAF-X
    Dell U3011

    I finally did manage a 1M run at 1466MHz C12, but the voltage :

    DDR3-2933 12-15-15-35-2T@1.95v (=1.955v real) Super Pi 1M

Something just didn't seem right. Even the Patriots didn't need that much voltage. Speaking of the Patriots, I put them back in for another run and low and behold, they wouldn't boot at speeds/timings/volts I'd run 32M benches successfully before. I was puzzled...until the BIOS recovery kicked in. Somewhere along the line, I had corrupted the BIOS. Once F5 was automatically flashed to both chips, I flashed to the latest beta and tried again. This time I was successful with the Patriots, but what about the Vengeance? Convinced they had more in them and the hiccup with the board was at fault, I tried DDR3-2800 C12. This time, things were a lot different!

    DDR3-2800 12-14-14-35-2T@1.65v BIOS (=1.655v real) Super Pi 32M

That bested any of the MFR I've tested before, including G.Skill's Ripjaws X 2400C11 sticks. Encouraged by the results, I decided to get another kit for 4x8GB testing...

After getting the second kit and confirming both sticks were about the same quality as the original, I went into 32GB benching.

    DDR3-2933 12-14-14-35-2T@1.80v BIOS(=1.805v real) Super Pi 32M

    Big difference from 1.95V!

1400MHz didn't require any more voltage for all four sticks than it did for two:

    And DDR3-2666 C11 seems a nice compromise for a 24/7 clock.

    Thanks for posting those results.

Only place that I can inspect these before buying is my local CompUSA/TD. Might have to drop in and see what they've got in stock.

I think the second is just the gold-colored kit, which for some reason is $5 more than the red.

I just got the non pro version of the same kit and so far it pretty much clocks exactly the same for exactly the same volts ..

Just wondering if this is capable of going past 2933 ?

What is the version number of that kit of yours (from the module label)? Is is "ver5.29", or similar?

Also, are they single, or double-sided modules?

MFR that can do 1200 10-12-12 at 1.65V is very likely to do 1466 12-14-14 but might need more than 1.7V for that.

So is that "non-Pro" Corsair kit linked above using single-sided MFR modules?

    Should be double-sided CFR: http://content.hwigroup.net/images/p...0_cl10_kit.jpg

    I have a kit of the 4x4GB 2400C10 and they're CFR.

That's what I would have thought they were, which is why I was asking about the version #. So if double-sided CFR, I would expect a "ver5.12" and if single-sided MFR, then a "ver5.29", right? Unless of course they are using Samsung chips on these now.

Right, Ver5.29 on 4GB sticks would be single-sided MFR while 5.12 is CFR. For instance, the Vengeance Extreme 3000: http://cdn.overclock.net/d/da/da5eb529_acorsair1.jpeg

What size are the sticks? If they're 4GB then it's double sided. Single-sided CFR would be a 2GB stick.

2933 or higher should be possible then. I had trouble with the Maximus VI compared to the Gigabyte Z87X OC-F but maybe you'll have better success.
