CState 1.2

Not too Xtreme but I have found some motherboard C State bios options don't always work properly so when you think you have turned something off in the bios, it ends up getting turned on by the bios anyhow.
With Core i based processors, including Sandy Bridge, individual cores can enter the deeper sleep states like C3 / C6 / C7 but you can also have the entire CPU package entering C2 / C3 / C6 / C7. A bios might have an option to turn these features on or off but it's a good idea to double check and make sure your bios is working correctly and the CPU is or isn't going into the C States correctly. If you learn something new about your CPU or motherboard, give this thread a bump before it disappears.
