I'm in, thanks Dinos and Irene; it has taken me a few hours to get accustomed to the bios layout (digging classic btw) but I think I am making progress, here are some pics from last night, working on a proper Samsung sub

Any word of a mATX version of this board with only 2 PCI 3.0 slots for Xfire/SLI and 8 phases with IR3550 parts?

    I'd jump on it.

let me tell you something dude. i just did some testing with the X79-UP4 which is a 6phase running Ivy Bridge E on LN2. I ran 3D11 GTs and Physx test to check the VRM and found that with 1.93VCORE under full physx load the phases are only loading 50%. This is the 60Amp mosfet so basically they were peaking at 30Amps with 6 phase on such a monster voltage.

haswell does not use anywhere near that amount of power and we are doing 8phase 40Amp designs. It will NEVER run out of power, even if intel was to introduce 6/12 or 8/16 core Haswells that bench at 2volts man!

You do not understand what you want and why you want it and Gigabyte has no intention of turning into a PR company so it can keep people with unreasonable requests happy! Product design decisions should be based on informed decisions rather than hearsay...

I hope that answers your question...

Wow really? Going above 2933 is pretty easy on the OC Force at least, and I can't imagine the regular OC is any different. 1T probably isn't going to work though, loosen to 2T.

That X79-UP4 Rocks 6 phases of IR3550 MOSFET which perform at over 90% power output efficiency at over twice the range of the IR3553 MOSFET that is on the Z87X-OC. X79-UP4 isn't even a "flagship" OC series like the Z87X-OC.

The IR3550 is way better at any load from browsing youtube at stock clocks to droping liquid nitrogen shots at 7GHZ.

Too bad Gigabyte doesn't have plans on making a killer Z87X-OC mATX mother board. They could save money on the size of the PCB and by only using 2 slots for SLI/Xfire they could save money. The could save money on other areas of the MB and then use the IR3550 part and the board would be awesome.

Going to probably get a Asrock Z87m OC Formula because it offers better VRM, better working BIOS for over clocking, better features, better value.

Dude atm the Z87X-OC board is best value for money, even undercutting prices here of the ROG Max VI Gene... If Gigabyte made an even cheaper board they would bring their own lineup in danger :p Team AU and we have been putting the OC boards through their paces and the VRM is perfectly fine with LN2... Ofcourse there's always better, but that's also more expensive and is it really required for Haswell ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I don't agree. The Z87X-OC isn't a value. It lacks high quality audio components, wireless connectivity that many other MB offer in the same price range.

Asrock Z87m OC Formula has better VRM design and packs more features and costs much less in the USA.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157393

Z87X-OC is a minimalist board for over clocking but it lacks the proper IR3550 MOSFETS that would make its $200 price right. I contacted Gigabyte support at Newegg and received email and I was told the Z87X-OC does have IR3550 Mosfets but only 8 of them which is misinformation because the board has 8 phases of inferior and cheaper IR3553 MOSFETS.

Not trying to disrespect the pro over clockers but I think they would be better off using the Force and learning how to tweak it with all the video card slots being used and break some 3d Video card records.

It is my opinion that Gigabyte probably makes more profit off of Z87X-OC sales than the Force because of production costs. The Force has much better design and more expensive parts as well as many more features.

euh you lost me, ofcourse that board is made purely for OCing... For me they even could have ditched the audio and other stuff we don't need, to even reduce the price Like with the X58OC, they probably needed to add that, to allow it so sell better...

Still you are comparing apples with oranges... full ATX and mATX is not the same for me... you are alone looking at specs, which is your perogative and if you find the ASRock better then go for it... As indeed they are great boards, really love the DRAM versatility of the Z87 OC Formula... but to say it probably OCs better due to the picked components is theoretical blabla

For the Force board, I would go straight then for the ASUS Extreme, being it alone just for the handyness of the OC panel...

And for 24/7 OCs you can pick almost any board you like... they all will have decent enough components onboard to power the Haswell at 4600MHzish speeds... I know people here are obsessed to show off their 4600MHz at 1.111251Vcore. I don't care if my CPU needs 1.2 or 1.25Vcore. As said audio and other features are purely subjective needs... Have fun with the ASRock !

The VRM on the Z87M OC Formula is better because of the design and parts used and besides that the Asrock also has more usable features that can be used for other tasks besides over clocking with Liquid Nitrogen.

I think the Z87X OC is weak without the IR3550 MOSFET and I don't care for all of the PCI-E slots, 2 of them for SLI/Xfire would work out well on this chipset but that is about it and that is why I think 2 is plenty on the mATX size like the Asrock Z87m OC Formula.

Getting email directly from Gigabyte specialist at Newegg informing me that Z87X-OC has 8 phases of IR3550 MOSFETS is part of the problem with the UUltra Durable 5 marketing. Not too long ago Ultra Durable 5 meant IR3550 MOSFET and now this + has screwed up me and even Gigabyte employees that are not certain of the parts on their mother boards.

I'm just discussin real stuff that has disgusted me with this MB.

So are current Haswell generation Mother board builders just burning up VRM parts clearing stock for future Haswell mother boards that will be cheaper to build and have better power support for FivR? I think FiVR is out of control on circuit power and control right now. Once that Fivr is stable I'm anticipating some super fast performance on a cheaper mother board.
