    Duplicate Host

    Hello Folks,

I used Bluestang's method to transfer 2 of my hosts to Yojimbo and then to Mumak. I then brought these two hosts back to my own account. One of the host came back to my account and resume its old host profile. The other one created a new duplicate host. I now have two hosts called "Francine" under my WCG account. One is the old one with 35K+ results and the other the new duplicate one with ~ 16 results.

Do I need to correct this? If so, how do I get it done..?

    Thanks,
    Jean-Guy

Unfortunately WCG does not let you combine hosts as some other sites do. It's strange that one of your hosts picked up where it left off and the other didn't. Did you use all the same login info? Anything different, like an e-mail addy, will give you a new host. It won't affect your totals.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will just let host "Francine" crunch under its re-born duplicate ID.

Exact same procedure used for both. Used Bluestang's ".bat" file method with my strong key. They only major differences that I can think of is one is a 3930k hard wired internet while the duplicate one was a 3770k wireless. I will just have to file this one under "PFM". and keep on crunching!!!

If you read that boinc wiki ... the way I see it is if something simple like network address changed while it was off then you get a new rig listed

You can rename that rig for a while to make it easier to see which is which

Hey, what happens when you rename the host (computer name in Windows)? Will it keep to current stats or will BOINC/WCG create a new host?

I want to rename to my sons names.

I have done that before.... and the machine just shows next update in stats under new name.

useful when, for whatever reason, there is a new boinc listing using the same name as a recently running rig. easier to differentiate when you change the name.

OC, what pathway / procedures do you use to rename a WCG host...???

Shut down the client, rename the machine (that's the actual machine name you gave it when you installed the OS, the exact steps are different for Linux, Mac and Windows) then reboot.
