Where to get a decent 2560x1600 or x1440 for gaming?

Simple request. Got a Haswell+780 now I'm just looking for a monitor. Can you guys recommend me a 24-27" monitor that does 2560x1600 or 2560x1440? Much appreciated.

Saw this but I hear these get shipped from Korea. Sounds like a crapshoot if you get a monitor with dead pixels. Plus I can't find the stats on it.

Picked up a 27" QNIX QX2710. A bit of backlight bleed. Overclocks to 120hz if I need it. It's so nice! Bought the 3 year warranty too just in case.

most of the dual link dvi only will overclock, but getting a pls instead of IPS could be a mistake.

I see from the people at 120Hz and OC.net that these PLS panels can suffer from burn in when used at higher refresh rates. Seems to be an issue with the PLS panel that is used instead of the LG S-IPS panels. Kinda sucks but this is still a great deal for those who want high resolution with higher refresh rate and cant afford the price gouging on the Catleap 2B's. The specs on it just cant be beat for its price.

personally id never buy one of the weird name korean panels, there is a reason why almost none of the big vendors use those panels, yes they might be better, SHORT TERM, but i like monitors to last 6-10 years minimum, and also there is build quality, those korean things are chinsy at best and that stupid power brick.. /shakes

im all about quality over quantity, if I could only afford a quality 60hz monitor I would get that instead of a "quantity" bigger faster monitor that is questionable at best.

did the same thing when getting my tv, i could have gotten any of the other names with the same or better specs with an extra 5 inches and it would have been cheaper, but you know what I dont trust em so i paid more for less and got the samsung as my old samsung led screen made me more than happy as the first one lasted a few years before I had to warantee it and the second lasted until I sold it 3 years after that

Overlordcomputer is the way to go but they JUST sold out and won't have stock until August. Overlord Tempest X270OC 2560x1440 120Hz S-IPS for $550.

Was looking at this but they were all sold out at the time. If this one doesn't last then I'll go for one of these. Hopefully by then they'll have a 2560x1600 @ 120hz.

Looks like all those panels are glossy too. I personally like matte.

Occasionally they get an AG version but instead of putting it on the store, they just announce it on Facebook for anyone interested.

those are direct from the OEM monitor but are not branded. depending on what you pick for the rear board you can get one identical to the dell or hp biz products. you are correct that you have to weigh the quality, but catleap and qnix are the direct from OEM brands and are are quite popular in asia.

with your tv choice samsung TVs are bad, you wasted a bunch of money to get something with poor color, bad effects that are a pain to disable, and you most likely did not even get a full resolution screen as they map 1:1 with safe 2 overscan. there are only 2 companies that make good LCD panels, so if you are not buying an LG or a panasonic you are going to be risking getting something low quality. you also really need to watch out for sony, samsung, sharp, and toshiba as they always use cheap samsung PVA/PLS.

120hz.net is a forum, they do things like group buys but they are not a vendor. if you are looking for a list of parts and how to overclock monitors it is a good resource. overlord is also just selling badged catleap monitors, i would rather go through them or monoprice instead of ebay but they are sold out of the overclocking ones all the time.

true story i may be a bit nieve but i tend to go with big names in hopes that they only use good products lol.. which is wrong but that comforting little warentee is always there for me.

and i like my tv and use most of the advertized features daily and like them, that is other than the "power saving" thing i dont want my tv to dim because its dark in the room.

also i demo'd all the models available in video only and personally I liked the looks of that over the lg/sony/panasonic/etc/etc tv's that they had there. its like speakers, there is alot of grey personal opinion zone in the word "best", if I was going for best i should have gotten a plasma but im not worried about best according to picture quality im worried about best overall including power usage, long term usability etc

I'm quite familiar with them as well as their history. Scribby actually left 120hz.net to start Overlord in order to provide gamers with affordable quality panels with a warranty. Overlord is not selling rebadged catleaps, they are actually using higher grade color accurate panels with the Catleap PCB, this is why they can offer a 1yr warranty. Now Overlord even makes their own PCBs so they can control the quality.

The Monoprice panels are only capable of ~67Hz. It's very hard to find a 2B on ebay because Yamasaki (or the ebay web-stores) pulled a bait-n-switch last November by replacing the PCBs with crappier variants for the same price.

^No. They are a full $200 more expensive that the 27" Overlord X270OC. Like the Overlord, the Dell also uses an LG panel (matte version) but the PCB is only at 60Hz (capable of ~65Hz with overclock). The Dell Ultrasharps do have a realy nice stand in comparison. Not worth the extra $200 though.

I cannot stress enough how awesome 1440p looks at 120Hz but I would recommend that you get a nice graphics card to keep the framerate as close to a 1:1 ratio as possible (~120FPS for ~120Hz). The new GTX780 would be a good choice.
