Could you say why you think so? If you are saying that it will be overpriced compared to equal capability Linux/UNIX/Windows stations, I agree with you.

As far as design goes, I found the idea of concentrating heat dissipation interesting; also the idea of all other expansion being external.
With Apple's iCloud service or with external storage, I think that this station moves to isolate data from programs/systems that act on the data. Not that this is a new idea at all, but this product serves it up as pretty much out of the box, and in a very small good looking box!

As for design on the custom PCBs, I do agree that it is a good idea however I'm not a full fan of the toilet roll holder design.

Maybe it's just hard for me to picture beside a nice 30+" monitor on a CAD workdesk etc.

This has to be using mobile GPU parts. Look at the central heat core, it doesn't look like it has enough heat dissipation to cool two w9000s and a 12 core xeon chip. Doesn't look like there is an insane amount of surface area which would be required to cool multiple gpus, a xeon processor and a 1000 watt power supply.

The number of cores listed makes it look like a normal 7970/7990 to me.

If that is the case, I wonder how they keep everything cooled. I could only just see a water based system keeping all these components cool in a system with this profile. The power supply would take up a big chunk of that thermal core and it looks like some thing in the bottom of the thermal core is blocking airflow

Look at thermal core and you can see what is either the motherboard or power supply at the bottom. But what you can see is that there isn't that many fins or surface area. We see some cPU heatsinks with this amount of surface area.

5.55 l, that's just crazy small! The Bitfenix Prodigy is 6 times larger.
Now make a mac midi with a HW CPU and a 770 or 780 GPU.

Not that I will buy it...

After looking at the pictures of the new/future Mac Pro, I can say that it honestly looks like the cigarette disposal bins outside my building. The designer dude had to have been jonesing for a coffin nail when he/she came up with this.

Apple has spoiled iOS 7, everything from slide up to unlock to the wallpaper with dynamic parallax effect screams android. They should have remained with their originality at least retained some of it i dont know why flatter fatter icons are needed i guess Apple wants to target old aged people now just like Microsoft.

In reality, they was a PC brand who have released the exact same Tubes / turbines design ( a micro ATX design if i remember well ) some years ago, i remember it in red and blue colors. ( i will try find it, but a bit hard without remember the brand name ). Now was at least looking a bit different.



Anyway, dont put this Mac Pro on the floor near your desk, every one will think this is the trash.

No, it is not. Unless you love paying premium for custom parts and having servicing and upgrading issues. It makes sense for notebooks because space is a big issue, it makes no sense here.

If that is the case, I wonder how they keep everything cooled.

Basically, imagine everything directly hooked up to a big single radiator with heat pipes.
Noise and temperatures are hard to predict, though...

This Mac Pro is god awful! The idea of Mac pro's is brute horsepower, not style. No video editor/render/music composer gives two s to the wind about the style. And like eX stated, I bet this thing is going to be extremely difficult to upgrade at all.

Tho its not something I would buy, Apple people might like it.

If one of our favorite modders did a case mod like this every one would cheer, but some how when Apple does it it's a fail <shrug>
