Powered by Intel's latest AVX2 linpack code.

Look at the Gflop performance and the heat.

4770k with HT off at 4.4GHZ.
Custom water loop, not delidded yet
    Ambient Temps 24C

    http://valid.canardpc.com/2859272

This chip is worthy and ready for delidding.

Delidded no IHS direct core mount.
    Same water cooling as before.
    Same BIOS settings as before.
Coolaboratory Liquid Pro TIM between DIE and Block.

    http://valid.canardpc.com/2865214

    Process Gflop performance is up!
With ambient temps taken into consideration temps dropped at least 29C per core!
Also important to note that 100C TDP heat was topping out and the CPU slows down a little by itself to keep from heating up. So max operation temps were never seen for the before delid test.

    Conclusion:

Delidding was a big win for my hot 4770k.

    All razors.

So far everything is going well. Getting ready to mount.

Nice pics. What did you use to coat the ICs next to the die?

Was thinking about using nail polish but worried the solvent in nail polish or the acetone used to wipe it off would damage something.

    Nail polish works wonderfully.

Avoid having to clean up and use masking/painters tape to surround the ICs in a tiny rectangle "pool" and nail polish over, wait till it gets tacky and remove the tape.

I've never heard of non Platinum Plus Rubie blades (avid shaver here) but virtually any DE blade will be sharp and thin enough to make quick work of an IHS

Guys my experience in deliding with IVY is big i did 9 and all dropped 30C using liquid ultra but NEVER gain any lower volts or to go higher

For ex i have a 4770K that its stable 4600HT @ 1.35 load and temps go to 74C using hyperpi, it wont boot 5GHz HT not even at 1,47, but will do nicely on 4900, question is, deliding could get me to boot 5GHz, i saw some ppl saying this around the forums, just want to know

    Cheers to all

If you're worried about any 'possible' electrical contact between the cpu surface paste with the power IC's situated on the other side why not use your basic clear Silicone from the hardware store?

When it sets it doesn't damage any surface it's on. Plus it lasts forever, been using it on the roof of the house for years, really excellent product and is heat resistant upwards of 160C plus.

Ok Guys...last night i delided my 4770K i must admit that the hand method i used for 9 IVY its a little hard on Haswell but worked either way chip is bit smaller my hands are big so that was the deal...

    Before delid

*I couldnt boot 5GHz no matter volts WONT POST
*My TeamX 2666CL11 wont boot 3250 WONT POST not even 3050
*Tested till 4800 hyperpi was impossible it rebooted no mater the volts

    After delid

I can do whatever i want, boot 5GHz, temps decreased 29C, my TeamX got to 3250 easy, i can run Hyperpi at 4800 32M stable, etc etc
IM VERY HAPPY I DID THIS

    some pics

    The proof

I couldnt even take a screenshot of hyperpi runing at 4M !!! temps where to the 84C and i saw 90C then rebooted, i was able to take this pic

    after delid...

    it also passes 32M

    TeamX 2666CL11@ 3250CL13

    5GHz HT

So if you put liquid pro on and leave it there for some time, then if you ever remove the CPU from the motherboard you would have to lap the bare CPU die to remove the liquid pro?

On their website they show a video of the removal, they just wipe it off. I can't remember if that's after it being installed + used for a long time though.

Anyway I ordered some Ultra today from the States ( I am in Canada) but it will take 1 month to get here! Otherwise I would have to pay like $30 for shipping lol. Living in Canada sucks.

I'm about to order a bunch of water cooling gear and was thinking to grab some liquid pro. The idea of smacking my CPU with a hammer and board does not scare me, but not being sure whether or not my CPU and waterblock will become one over time certainly does! So are all these people tossing Liquid Pro on their CPU's are only doing it for benchmarks? Or does one simply have to remove the waterblock about once a month to be sure it hasen't fused with the CPU?

I'm wanting to de-lid for better temps but it does not sound like Liquid Pro is a solution for anyone who might have to move the CPU or waterblock later? It wouldn't bother me at all putting it on the outer IHS since that can be lapped down to remove the liquid pro, but it sounds like once it gets bound on the CPU die thats pretty much game over, and time to buy a new CPU?

Still worth delidding if I just use some TC grease 0098?

no mate we do it for be stable at 4800HT+

benchers use LN2 or SS and dont need deliding, in fact deliding will harm for them with an open chip can be catastrophic

check my page here all info before and after the delid pics etc...
