    Should I cancel my i7 3770 order ?

Today I ordered i7 3770 because I want to replace my old Core 2 quad Q6600. However, i7 4770 reviews are out now and performance is a little better than I expected, in some benchmarks it is more than %10 faster than 3770

Usually, it takes around a weak or two for new haswell to arrive to my country. Also new Haswell Motherboards is likely to be more expensive than ivy bridge motherboards because newer motherboards always have been sold for higher price in my country in past years.

So, I don't know if I made the right decision. Is i7 4770 worth waiting for ? Does the new AVX2 instruction set make it more future proof ?

Also, how much faster is i7 3770 in single thread and multi-thread over my old Q6600 ?

Keep in mind that I only like to upgrade if there is massive improvement. Before I had Q6600, my parents had PC with pentium 4 3.2GHz, and Q6600 was massive improvement compared to that PC.

If you can get the 3770 plus 1155 motherboard for substantially cheaper than the 4770 and 1150 motherboard, then no.

Otherwise a week or 2 wait won't kill you if you are still running a q6600.

+1. See no compelling reason to jump just yet - let the dust settle for a few weeks. 4770K does not appear to be a huge leap over 3770K.

    I canceled my order

Just question. how much improvement I would see in gaming if upgrade from Q6600 stock speed to i7 4770 ? Keep in mind that I will still be using same GPU (nvidia GTX460SE). I don't plan to upgrade the GPU until GTX 860 comes out.

You will see substantial increase in the majority of games.

BTW I have several sandybridge and ivy bridge systems. I cannot tell the difference. I expect ivy vs haswell would be the same.
