I would be more interested in the 39 inch version if both of them weren't so expensive.
But really, about time!
probably verrry expensive? like 2k? maybe worth it I guess for Pro' photographers/designers etc using the current 30" 2500x1600(whatever similar res it actually is)
Wish really that some inbetweeny' res monitors would come out a more usable size like 24/27.

I'm waiting for 120Hz Oled 4K monitors and single GPU's powerful enough to drive those. Still a few years off.

Not to hijack the thread but what do you recommend in either of these? It's the last piece of the puzzle.Originally Posted by '[XC

There's a lot of 1440p (sorry for the mistake) that are built with korean panels floating around on ebay from reputable buyers:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...x1440&_sacat=0
There's a long thread on hardforum about it.
There's also overloard monitors mentioned here on XS: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...nitors-is-here.
Found here: http://overlordcomputer.com/collections/27-displays (OOS for now though)
Monoprice had a house branded 30" in that range, but the price went up recently. People on slickdeals find price drops now and again. It's $700, but has been much cheaper.

Its seems to have pathetic contrast...
if you want a 30" screen, just get a dell.
Yes I know it sounds like a joke, garbage brand and high price, but dell monitors are criminally underrated.
Anyway, good to see Asus (and others) finally starting to push the boundaries , monitor technology has been stagnant for way too long.
I will wait with praising part until I see the price... I don't just want these to become available, I want to see some competition for customers, without price-fixing schemes, and prices actually dropping towards reasonable levels.
Korean monitors have clearly shown us that we are being ripped off.
PRICED!!!
$3,799

I want to say that's actually affordable, considering how much some of us spend on other stuff.
4K was 4096x2160 16:10 aspect, when it cost a small car.
then when sharp start making this screen, the industry try to con us by saying 4k is now 3840x2160 and 16:9 aspect.
I will not be sway, give me 16:10 or no go.
Core i7 920 D0, GTX 285 2 GB, Enermax 1250W, 12 GB corsair 1866 DDR3, Samsung 2233RZ 120 Hz, Nvidia 3d vision, Thermalright 120 TRUE COPPER, clock speed 4GHz.
i5-3570k, GTX 690, 8GB Gskill DDR3, Dell 3007, LD PC-V10, clock speed 5.2GHz, OCZ vertex 4 512GB
It appears there's two different standards for what "Four K" actually is: 4K and 4K UHD. '4K' by itself is 4096x2160 and found mainly in projectors and computer only applications. Whereas '4K UHD (Ultra HD)' is the marketing/consumer resolution of 3840x2160 which is "4 times" the amount of pixels as 1080p. Which is really stupid, when you consider that the "4K" cameras out right now shoot in 4096x2160.
The conflict between the two is completely asinine, considering the movie studios themselves dictated through the DCI (here) that the standard for next generation film projection is 4096x2160. Which means what you'll get on any of the TVs coming to market is an improperly displayed mush of ultra high definition.
