Is Raid0 in SSDs a nonsense for the average user?

Hello fellows.

I was thinking about either buying 2xSamsung Pro SSD 840 256GB in Raid0 or directly buying the 512GB unit. I have read that the main advantage of raiding is to get extremely lower latencies, but this feature is precisely the one where SSDs shines the most.

Data loss is not important, as it will only contain OS and programs files.

I would just get the 512. The pro is insanely fast to begin with, and since all you are doing is o/s and programs on it, no real need.

I have done it a few times to get more space in a single volume, but at a lower price.

512gig drives can be very expensive, but are now coming down in price.

Yeah, now in my country, the 512GB model is a bit cheaper than 2x256GB ones.
