Sata ports + installing SSD's in Bloodrage

Hello guys,

I have two SSDs (Plextor M5S 128Gb) + 4 WD VelociRaptor 300Gb (10.000RPM). I would like to know which sata ports should I install the two SSDs (Raid 0) to not lose speed performance in Bloodrage. What (ports) would be the most adequate to be installed?

Mine goes to lowest SATA number which is I think native Intel SATA controller.

Maybe if you got spare PCI-E external controller would be good idea.. RAID on BR will be pain anyway.

In Bloodrage has 6 sata ports, which would be the parent of the X58 chipset? Can you tell me?
In case it is in them that I would have to install two SSDs, correct?

PCI-E external I have not. Because I have problem in Raid on BR? Now I'm worried!

"Crazy" was reference to your obvious "HDD need for speed". Some really fast HHDs you have.

I think "parent" ones are those closest to IDE (first 4 slots from IDE). I have my SSD in one of them. Remaining two are I think on Micron.

Ok, now I get it.

As sata ports, so I can install both SSD's on any port sata mb, provided that the first four near the IDE. That?



These four SATA ports are controlled directly by the X58 chipset? The Raid 0, I can install it right?

1. All six black SATA ports (#17) are native ICH10R SATA 3Gbps ports supporting Intel Matrix RAID 0, 1, 10, 5 and JBOD. All six are equal to use and the best choice for SSD/RAID.
2. Two red SAS ports (#12) are SAS/SATA ports from Marvell 88SE6320 controller. They are equal to SATA 3Gbps ports in terms of compatibility and not so great for SSD.
3. Two eSATA ports from JMicron JMB363 controller. They are on the backplane and JMicron controller is a little bit crappy.

Yes, there is a bios option for ICH10R mode - choose RAID and here you go .

Yes, although ICH10R will be in RAID mode, it will work just fine with standalone disks too.
