    TressFX curiousity

I thought this probably belonged in the gaming section.

    My system is:

    P2 955 C3 @ 3800Mhz
    560Ti @ 875/1750/2100
    800MHz 9-9-9-24-41 RAM

Tonight I lapped, remounted with better paste and with the extra headroom managed to boost the CPU to 4200MHz. Anyhow, this change made Tomb Raider with TressFX enabled (which was unplayable before) smooth as butter.

This is confusing to me because I thought TressFX was purely GPU bound?

    Any thoughts anyone?

Maybe there was enough load CPU wise from whatever the game is doing CPU wise that prevented the GPU to receive/send all the instructions it needed as to not lag (?). I wasn't able to find much technical info on tressfx.

Well it`s certainly a bit enigmatic but hell, I`m not complaining!

Did you also update the game ? Or the drivers ? My fps with 314.22 drivers and 1.0.722 of the game almost doubled the average fps with TressFX compared to 310.70 and the shipped version of the game - although I am not too keen on enabling it because its just too springy and shiny to be believable.

You`re right, I just checked the version number and it`s been patched up - the missus must have done it while I was out or something...

Impressive gains then, props to the devs x
