    Heads up

I am back to work full time after 3 years off work and doing side jobs I am getting things back under control. I have a few big projects in progress now with applying refrigeration to intercoolers, fuel rails and intakes. Not a far stretch from my normal and I have a few big companies wanting me to rework existing designs.

First up is Ford and Acura, I will have build logs on XS as I prepare for SEMA. I also expect an AMG at my door soon.

Hopefully more people get involved and attempt similar builds and develop new techniques in condensing fuel and XS will become a leader in the automotive industry for this application.

But first I plan to take care of a few people on XS where I gave away more products than the manufacture provided. My fault completely.

XS will be expanding a bit into automotive to develop sub zero intercoolers.

    Charles

    Charles-

Years ago I looked at using phase change cooling for intercoolers and it's 100% doable and the only way I would even consider doing a proper boosted engine these days. Cost is the big issue for most people but the practicality of this type of system has major benefits. Getting enough thermal capacity from the phase change system does require a big increase in capacity to account for heat soak, high ambients, etc. in addition to the thermal load from the intercooler itself. I designed an independent, submersed intercooler set-up to use the coolant as the best means to extract the heat from the intercooler rapidly. Packaging is the real challenge for these systems.

You should have fun with this. I'm glad to hear that you're working full time again. The U.S., European and Asian economies still suck and it's going to be a long, slow recovery that will likely take another five years to get back to a reasonably comfortable state.

Might want to research old style aircraft oil coolers... or direct air-charge cooling using something like propane

Very nice Charles, I have a project of my own that I am in need of some intercoolers for to upgrade the Greddy's that are on the car.

Here is the motor I have built: http://www.importpartspro.com/st4vgloblni3.html

still deciding on turbos, injectors and intercoolers atm so I am interested in your designs and would love to beta test

Just an update as I promised pictures as we made progress

    Day 1.
    Race Log 04202013:7.15PM

Approximately 10 feet from the launch pad it lost control and went into what is called an "oh " (as described by the owners technical vernacular) and proceeded to lose control nailing another car.

After 25 seconds of testing the throttle position we needed to go back to the drawing board....

I was not driving, I was not hurt (feelings).

Looks like they launched it off the top of a building. Your gonna have to add wings if you want it to fly.

I'm sure you'll get it worked out.

Looks like a pretty clean MKIV with what I would assume to be a large single turbo setup. Was the FMIC damaged badly?

HP wise I am going to go out on a limb and say in the realm of 650 -1200 depending on fuel setup and the size of the snail, and what type of boost / fuel.
