    LinX and i7 990X : pass with 4GB RAM or less, error with 8GB or more, why ?

    Hello,

    Still on 1366. Recently purchased an i7 990X for 280?.

    I've noticed that LinX passes everytime when I use =< 4GB RAM, but *NEVER* with 8 or more...

    Could you tell me why please ? Need more voltage ? (:/) RAM issue ? need more RAM voltage ? (...)

    Please help !

    Well... It used to pass with another version of linpack... Now, fails 4GB...

    By the way, about i7 990X, what is the Vcpu Max for H24 O/C please ?

    What version of linpack should I use ?

    I can't offer advice on which version of the software to use, but if the sticks have all been tested <4GB at a time, maybe an IOH or IMC voltage needs increased a little, OR a couple of memory timings need slackened.

    Please can you tell us more about your settings?

    There is something VERY STRANGE : 4.37GHz with 1.344V, to reach 4.4 I have to up it to 1.376!
    That's crazy !!! (LLC enabled, but does not seem to really work nice (1.43125V set in BIOS results in 1.392V idle, 1.376 linx load...

    By the way, what is the maximum 24/7 real voltage max ?

    Well... Here are my settings :

    CPU PLL : 1.70000V
    QPI/VTT : 1.19500V
    CPU Vore : 1.43125V (see above what real values are)
    DRAM : 1.66V
    PCIE : 1.50000V
    QPI PLL : 1.14000V
    IOH Core : 1.14000V
    ICH I/O : 1.58000V
    ICH Core : 1.14000V

    Multiplier : 31x140 for stable 1.344V (real) 4.340GHz
    31*142 real 1.376V for 4.40Ghz (...)

    I guess 4.5GHz 24/7 won't be possible :'(

    LLC variation will depend on your motherboard. Some are just better than others.

    Max vCore...... Personally, I always tried to keep vCore as low as possible to keep the temps down. What are your load temps?

    I think you could increase QPI/VTT to 1.22v and see if that helps, then 1.25v if you need to.

    The rest of your voltages..... I think they are ok


    If you still have problems, you could try increasing your tRAS and tRFC.

    What is your Northbridge frequency?

    Well, dunno how NB Freq is named in Gigabyte MB's

    My PC is fully watercooled, the higher core temp is 58-60?C

    Feel free to ask anything you need

    Try "Uncore & QPI features" I had a look on Google images, it might be in there

    Uncore Clock Ratio : x21 => Uncore Frequency : 2940MHz
