Exclamation Advice on VCORE for i7 2700K

    Hi,

    Got my i7 2700K earlier.

    Currently at 4.8Ghz

Running AIDA64 at 1.31v caused a lock up after about 15 minutes, currently testing at 1.32 vcore.

    I am looking for a 24/7 o/c for gaming.

If I can stabilize 4.8 at SENSIBLE vcore I will be THRILLED.

Using Arctic Cooling MX-4 and a Corsair H80 to control temps - which are hideous atm so I will likely re-apply TIM and resit heatsink but for now as temps are NOT dangerous I am working on stability then I can mess about with temps after.

THE BIG QUESTION - I am using an Asus P8Z77-V Pro Motherboard, please may I ask if there is anything I can do to help me stabilize 4.8Ghz to help me keep vcore as low as possible - there are a lot of settings I have no idea about.

    Many thanks.

PS AIDA64 has gone 20 minutes so far at 4.8Ghz 1.32v - obviously not gonna be 100% stable but must be within range to not crap out yet.

For a good 2500k-2700k vcore for 4.8ghz stable is usually 1.32-1.36v.
The lowest I've seen was 1.28v for 4.8ghz on a Sandy and that was probably the best one ever.

Mine seems OK at 1.320vcore although I am sure it will need a bump soon.

So if i can get 4.8Ghz Stable at say, 1.330v or 1.335 I have a decent chip?

    Cheers.
