    Need video card advice

    Hello,
It has been a while since I was on the forum, good to be here again. I need your advice on a new video card. My current specs are an EVGA 9800GTX 512mb. I want to do a little gaming and the card will not be a cruncher. I am limited to $300.00 and it has been a good while since I read any vid articles or reviews. My computer is an old QX9770 w/4GB ram on a Maximus Formula. The CPU has its own watercooling and the Northbridge and Mosfets have a separate circuit. I realize at this price point I won't get much wow in today's market but it will be a lot better than what I have now. I am not set on Nvidia or AMD, suggestions and reasons why to choose one over the other will greatly be appreciated.

Actually today for $300 you can buy a pretty decent card. I just got a ATI 7850 for just under $200

If you want to stay with nvidia, you want a GTX 660 Ti(if you're maxing your budget). They can be had for under $300. If you want a 670 (solid card, I owned one), you can try to pick up one used. They go for around $300 or so.

    I have a gtx 650 (for hackintosh/benching) & it's NOT worth it.
    You must [not] advance.

Either spring for a gtx660ti, (however may be really pushing your budget).

    Or the asus HD7870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121649

I have this ^^ card and its very nice, $239 after rebate and 2 free games. Performance is between a gtx660 a gtx660ti. Actually it nips at the heals of my EVGA 660ti that I have in a another machine.
Runs super cool, and quiet too.
