    GA-970A-UD3 + fx8350 wont boot

    hi

i thought i d help a freind out and build him a new rig..... turned out to be a bit of a headache :x

i ordered him this mobo GA-970A-UD3 as he wont ever be running more than 1 gpu and an fx8350 with some 1600mhz 8gb corsair mem 850 corsair psu.... put it all together turned it on and Nothing! mobo wont even post, it does nothing except power fans

now i tested all components with other components that i know work .

i tried a know working psu, cpu, memory etc amd same thing happens is it mobo DOA or does it maybe need updated bios? looking on gigabyte quote "GIGABYTE's AMD motherboards are ready to support new generation of 32nm AMD AM3+ multi-core processors," so it should work i thought so it must be mobo i think but im not sure :<
any one got any idea what i should do/try next?? or should i just rma DOA ?

    any advise would be appreciated

    thanks

edit: 4got to mention i tried posting the mobo with no memory init to see if it made some kinda alarm but it just sits there with fans spinning and i also tried posting with no cpu thinking it would maybe alarm at me but same just spinning fans. i dont know if this is relevant as if the mobo doesnt recognise cpu im not sure it would try to boot after.

as when a bought my CHV i had a similar problem coz i was running on old bios and didnt recognise me fx8350 til a bios update :o

Is it a Rev. 1.0 or 1.1 motherboard (version number printed on the lower left corner of the motherboard)?
If it is the bios version must be atleast "F4" to make it even post on FX processors.

If it is a newer board revision, make sure you have installed the ram modules in the white memory sockets.

Are those Corsair modules "Rev. 3.xx" by any chance?
If they are, they have Micron ICs on them.
And Micron ICs on newer AMD CPUs absolutely suck.

If the board does not post with another modules just send it to RMA and get a Asus board instead.

Pretty sure the GA-970A-UD3 does not support the Fx-8350 even with a bios update because of the power requirements of this cpu.

The Fx-6300 and 4300 are supported though, if you wanted to keep the mb and exchange the cpu, otherwise you should grab a 990 chipset board.

I just looked it up on the gigabyte web site and it says that the GA-970A-UD3 rev 3.0 supports the 8350 since bios rev FB . Also what is your corsair memory part number? I looked that up as well and it supports several corsar 4GB modules (assuming you have 2x4GB for the 8Gigabytes in your build) so they probably aren't the issue. So check your bios version. Other than that I really don't know..
