Mumak - Given what you are saying as true, when you select the Add Project the selected Project should append to the app_config.xml file their requirements for GPU use and provide the appropriate <app> for their required configuration. I realize that the app_config.xml file is relatively new. But, it's like with Microsoft's release of a new operating system, it always takes some time for all the driver writers to catch up with the new OS. But, they have to start someplace.

The app_config.xml file is specific and a separate file for each project. I'm not aware that adding a new project would create a new app_config.xml file. E@H allows you to define how many concurrent WUs you want to run per GPU without using the app_config.xml - this setting can be found in the E@H web account / Einstein@Home preferences / "GPU utilization factor of BRP apps".
Anyway, we're going off-topic now (even off-forum, since this whole subforum is for WCG)...

Mumak - Firstly, thank you for your help.

Secondly, since, to my knowledge, there is no sub-forum for E@H, where would you suggest I submit these posts? I still need the guidance and it is for the XtremeSystems team.

Also, since the option you referenced...
GPU utilization factor of BRP apps, indicates...

GPU utilization factor of BRP apps
DANGEROUS! Only touch this if you are absolutely sure of what you are doing!

I would not put myself in the category of absolutely sure of what I am doing, I, like many others, have to rely on wizards like yourself.

Even if I am going off topic (and if I am my apologies), I, for one, still value the assistance. And, since this is a Countdown to HCC Completion, I am not so sure we are really off topic. Completion of one thing usually implies the beginning of another.

Use the E@H forum here for more information: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/forum_index.php
I don't think that option is as much dangerous as it says - in fact it does just determine how many WUs/GPU are run. I'm using a factor of 0.5 (means 2 WUs/GPU) on two machines since several weeks and no problem so far. Anyone participating in GPUGrid is utilizing his GPU at a much higher level than E@H and they don't display any warnings...

Mumak - I thank you for sharing your wisdom and will likewise modify my setting at E@H.

I know the feeling. I spent $600 for two video cards and I really don't care for ATI / AMD cards (probably just because I am more familiar with nVidia cards / settings). One of them will for sure be going on eBay as these new ATI cards don't have settings for my old "square" Dell 2001 FP20 monitor - just wide screen settings.

Maybe offer them for sale here before you go to eBay.

+1 to that, lots of folks here would be interested. Looks like ebay is filling up with cards already!

I can do that. How much should I ask for a month and a half old 7950 card (fair price to both buyer and seller)?

I've been buying 7770s for about $100 by bidding.

That's a little more than what I was thinking. They are PowerColor HD7950 cards. I just looked at the reviews on Newegg and bought what had the highest ranking. I'd be happy with $240 each (or about $460 for the pair) including shipping to a continental U.S. address. Once all the HCC GPU work is done I'll put them up for sale here and see what happens before I list them on eBay. I don't know if it makes any difference or not but they came with some kind of something for games. I didn't pay any attention to that stuff because I don't play computer games.

Might want to hang on to them for future projects. Am sure WCG will push GPU crunching if possible.

I wouldn't say "push" but they'll be most encouraging to new projects that can make use of the technology given the processing power that has been demonstrated on HCC.

If another GPU project comes up I'll get another GPU. I was hesitant to get one in March and glad I didn't.

Sooner or later one will come up. I don't doubt that.

I think, if today were the end, WCG would put out the official word.

Red Maw. All of my 4 crunching rigs have full cues (Averaging 8000 + Wus in cues for Xfire rigs) and are still downloading new WUs to keep themselves topped up. Double check your internet connection(s), insure firewall settings allow BOINC to communicate in and out and reconfirm your BOINC cache settings. Also check the BOINC log for any message regarding download of new WUs status.
