Thumbs up nVidia slashes prices and takes fight to AMD

We love a bit of argy-bargy at KitGuru. There?s nothing quite like a couple of multi-billion dollar corporations slugging it out, toe-to-toe, for market share. Right now, it looks like the winner is going to be you, the KitGuru reader.
For our American cousins, argy-bargy is where everyone gets very hormonal ? and that?s when things get interesting. AMD stirred the pot with the release of the 7870 Tahiti LE, alongside the 7790 launch and appointment of former nVidia global VP for GPU sales, Roy Taylor.
Now, it seems, Fiona Faulkner [nVidia's queen of European sales - Ed] and her team are getting ready to wrestle in the mud.
You can read KitGuru?s predictions about the ?GTX 655 Ti? Vs 7790 match up over here.
Up and down the UK, resellers have been told that the up-coming launch of the ?GTX655 Ti? will be preceded by a drop in price on standard/established nVidia stock.
Starting ?very soon?, you can now pick up the following deals from nVidia partners, with the promise of more to follow in other areas:-

    ?98 1GB GeForce GTX 650 Ti
    ?153 2GB GeForce GTX 660

Get a complete list of the leaked pricing over here.

Yep. Start releasing your 670s at 310$ and your 680 at 410$ then we can talk. Until then... BS!

Hope the price drop is soon. Need a new card for a build I'm doing and thinking nvidia for the 1st time. Never owned one before. Looked at the prices earlier today and see why amd is winning in the price war.

Yeah, that F2P promotion is just strange. I don't even get what you're actually receiving with that promotion and had never even heard of the games.

On the hand, AMD got my to buy two 7970s I didn't even need by throwing in Bioshock Infinite, FC3, Crysis 3, Sleeping Dogs, and Hitman Absolution.

I don't care about price cuts on on $200 cards either. Make 690s or Titans $750 and I'll buy them too.

I can imagine, nvidia have been involved a bit in thoses games, both should have use PhysX ( well not Planetside2 anymore if i have understand it well ), and so this was a way to quickly and not so costly to respond to AMD bundles.
(Should be a minimum of publicity involved on both camp, who have surely reduce the cost on nvidia side )

Still, peoples who play PlanetSide, WorldofTanks or interested in Hawken, will maybe not buy a new cards for a coupon of "goodies" in a F2p game, and peoples who need/want a new gpu will maybe just fire thoses games, dont like it or just dont care.

( its a bit offtopic, but, i'm allready a bit uppset about all thoses F2P games, where you finally pay 30$ / months of stuffs you dont forcibly need or want. ).. i will better like they launch the games for 15-20$. and not push peoples to buy stuffs all the time. ). after 4 months of play: the "free to play games" ( damn a muliplayer game lol ), will cost you 100+ $.

I WISH they'd slash prices for the higher end stuff. If I could get another 680 for around 350, I'd probably go all in on it.

You know the current market is garbage when they release cards with Boost in the name.

This whole boost naming nonsense is stupid particularly for the gtx 650 ti. With a difference of 30 or so, it deserves a new name. These type of add on names remind me of stupid overclocking monikers like superclock, FTW edition. When there is this much of a difference, it is simply cheapening the card.

I can't believed Nvidia copied AMD naming scheme for this card. AMD should have given the 7950(the boosted version) a new name to indicated the performance as well instead of this boost thing.

The boost also has 1GB extra VRAM, 192-bit mem bus vs 128-bit., and a DisplayPort for who cares.

GTX 650 ti / 660 / 660 ti have to be equal to AMDs price or just over & they'll do fine b/c of hype.

As for 680/690/titan... drop the prices. $800 for titan/690 would attract a lot of people. Dual Titans vs Aers for $100 more.
    You must [not] advance.

You honestly think they're going to discount Titan when it was just released a month ago? Every spot I typically shop online sells out the moment a shipment comes in. Discounting Titan would be idiotic from a business perspective.
