    Arma 3 alpha

I bought Arma 3 this weekend from the Bohemia Interactive site: http://www.arma3.com/buy
It seems optimized better than Arma2. Check it out. I bought the Alpha version (cheapest ver.) you dont need that other crap.

i have it since a week and at first i was very dissapointed cauz even with my SLI of GTX680 SOC frames drop to 33 sometimes and im on the forums and its like that its not optimized yet, with the days i learned the map editor wich is awesome as u can cut a piece of the map and be there

multiplayer aint that good for now as map is hughe and not even 128 players will fill it

but here are some shots i take wich are very nice

Hopefully they will actually "optimize" it for mid to high end hardware. 30 fps for multiplayer sucks....

Arma II was such an awful experience for me that I won't support any further games by the same dev.
HORRIBLE sound, incredibly bad optimization, bugs everywhere...

Yeah, they need to re-write the engine for this game 2 years ago. It sucks at using the resources of a modern PC.

I'll be in spots where the game is showing me 25-30 FPS and chugging along. Then you check your usage and see 20% CPU use and your GPU's starved for draw-calls at such low usage they've down-clocked to 2d speeds.

It's like 2006 again where you just need 2 CPU threads and very fast clockspeeds to have any effect on performance.

I've been playing the DayZ mod for Arma 2 lately. It was so frustrating I wanted to punch a hole through my monitor LOL, but I stuck with it and started having fun. Now I'm addicted

It's a very hard gaming experience, but that's the way it's designed. It makes you really really really try hard to survive.

It's buggy, and sluggish at times but that just adds to the difficulty that has made the game fun for me.

Arma2 was a hard learning curve for me - so much crap to learn, everything scattered all over the place. But I love trying new games, might give this a shot.

ARMA 3 is far easier to learn than ARMA II without detracting from that realistic gameplay that we have come to enjoy. The things that were glitchy/buggy and outright counter intuitive in ARMA II, are much more functional now.

As for the performance, the game is currently in alpha and could definitely use some optimizing. However, I will say that it is an absolutely beautiful game. Everywhere I go, the graphics cause me to take a step back in awe.

This game looks really familiar, there was an old school game that looked sim-type real and had tons of veh for you to use and huge open spaces for you to play on. Unfortunately I can see the game in my head but not remember the name, is this by the same dev?

ArmA 3 Alpha Gameplay - Nvidia Surround - GTX 480 SLI:

Here's a quick video of me putzing around in the sandbox editor. This game looks like it will be a lot of fun, like a modern day Enemy Territory, lol.

i should have put my money on BF4 instead of this game, its sux really every build no improvements at all game stutters, drop FPS and its boring

i really regreat the move, what they show its images wich look kinda nice then you edit the main map go to play and sux 33fps on a beast SLI of SOC GTX680...damn

Give it time, it's still only in alpha stage. Gameplay and graphics optimizations should take place over time.

Never seen companies push forward an Alpha build / charge for it. Are they that strapped for cash? IMO its a bad idea since the game is so broken at that time that they risk getting a bad rep by the time the games out.

They have such a dedicated fan-base these guys will buy the game no matter what.

I got flamed to hell and back when I complained of only 30 FPS and told that this is perfectly acceptable and that I have no idea what a game engine is made of.
