Wth? Gigabyte is stealing XFX and DFI's color schemes.

Has anyone else noticed that Gigabyte is stealing XFX and DFI's motherboard color schemes lately? I do not find this amusing at all -.-

Cases in point, I saw a picture of this board online and thought "OMGOMGOMGOMG!! DFI IS BAc. . . . wait, the fauk? That's Gigabyte." http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/prod...px?pid=4334#ov

Hey, check out this Gigabyte board if you don't agree with me http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136070 . . . . Oh wait.

Then I noticed this board that makes me think XFX http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro....aspx?pid=4169

So what? Gigabyte run out of ways to attract people that they have to mooch off of the color schemes made known by other manufacturers? Personally, I think this is shady and I do not approve.

Whats next? Gigabyte gonna make product lines called LANParty-On for their motherboards and and X? for their video cards? I got an Idea Gigabyte, be ultra original and start rebadging older motherboards with bigger numbers and reselling them as new products -.-

Seriously? If it looks good and performs I couldn't give a hoot who the manufacturer is. It's just a colour scheme after all and to say that they're "stealing" it is frankly ridiculous. Show me where it states that DFI is the only one allowed to use that specific combination of colours and then you'd have an argument although it'd still be a silly one.

Beyond them being just colors, I was getting quite tired of the pre-school blue, red, yellow colors that they have been using for years.

It's about time they move forward. With all the unique enthusiast builds you see everywhere, this should help them with sales for those interested in "theme builds"

I liked the blue & white. It looked fresh and clean.

As for black and green...... it's (IMO) a great colour combo..... why let it go to waste?

    Really...?

DFI hasn't made a LanParty mbx in 3-4 years.

Just colors, and for someone who is trying to color coordinate their build it gives a lot of options.

It isn't like they are using a model name or mimic a logo or anything like that.

    404 outrage not found.

Yeah, but they are color schemes made popular by other companies. That's part of a brand, they had their own distinct color schemes that set them apart.

Gigabyte even had the oh so sexy black and grey stealthy color scheme they coulda rocked into brand recognition but instead they abandoned that in favor of schemes other brands made recognizable.

I find it a little sad that Gigabyte couldn't stick with the color schemes it has or come up with something original instead of mooching off of schemes instantly recognized as being pioneered by other companies, wheres the ingenuity in that?

Given design trumps color by why be creative with the design then take the easy and cheap way out with the looks by mimicking another companies success?

Nobody I ever met bought a DFI board for the pretty colours, they bought it because it was a top notch board which is what truly set them apart and why people bought them in the 1st place. And again original colour schemes? None of them are truly original when every single board below a certain price point is primarily blue and everyone above that point is black with varying secondary colours. There is no ingenuity when it comes to the colour of a DIMM or PCI-E slot and honestly do you really think the average guy goes "oh that looks just like a DFI/XFX board" when they see orange or green slots?

They could make different versions of the same board with different colour combos to suit every themed build for all I care and people would probably love that and buy the model they like the most, they're not going to pass up a good product because of some perceived lack of originality. Just look at the last 3-4 generations of videocards, they all look the same to me but I don't hear anybody complaining.

It just struck me that Nvidia quitting the chipset business freed some color schemes for other uses

Im with you on that one Kenny..
The blue & white wasnt bad at all.

But honestly dont give much for the hardware visual design.... What I do miss from Gigabyte is a BIOS that isnt crap, and that unfortunately has been some years now, quality went to hell.

I have no complaints about my Gigabyte's BIOS. I'm also not a power tweaker that wants control over absolutely every tiny detail either

DFI hasnt been around for enthusiasts for several years. They made some cool looking boards back in the day. Gigabyte might as well apply the nice colour schemes to new tech since DFI wont be.

Sure as hell looks a lot better than the boards Gigabyte has come out with in the past. I think I remember they even had green and pink dimm slots on the same board.

Wow this thread is hilarious. I can see people (including myself) getting upset for a board manufacturer to use the same colours over and over and over again (i.e. Asus & EVGA). But to get mad a manufacturer for doing new colours? Come on here. Gigabyte's Z87 are by far the best looking Z87 boards. I can't see why anyone would complain over that.
