    Battle toads lol .

Anyways this tomb raider game is another one of those games I can't even start.

La-noire, black ops 2, left 4 dead 2, batman arcum city.
All useless games to me because they don't even startup.
Well left 4 dead 2 does start but crashes before the main menu lol, essentially the same thing.
La noire I couldn't even update to even try it again.

Such is the way I guess, seems like 1 out of 5 games actually work these days lol.

lol when it's almost every game you play, you have to start wondering if it's something wrong in your configuration and not with the games themselves.

It's not every game, it's more like 10%.
    The crap ones, well mostly.

The only main problems I have is getting my darned xbox 360 controller working with the games these days.
There seems to be a bug with a huge amount of them when there's more then 1 controller hooked up.
I've only got a half dozen or so games that actually work right with the controller.
The other's either don't work at all, or way half @rsed.
Problem is, I don't have more then 1 controller hooked up, never have in this install of windows.
Even installed a fresh copy and still have the same darned problem.
Could be that usb connector thing for the x60 cpu cooler I got though, I should unplug that and install windows fresh again.
I don't actually use the controller that much, but when i have a buddy over I need it working.
My keyboard still has a short in the cord that I never got around to replacing and I everytime I pick it up it shorts out alot, so I don't pass it around for playing games, I don't really like passing it around for people to login to facebook and such but I do, I just try to be careful because my buddies are always like why isn't the keyboard or mouse working anymore type of deal...

There's a new update for tomb raider, I'll try it later and if this doesn't allow me to start the game I'm putting it were it belongs, the garbage lol.
Thought about picking up sim city but I don't like idea of always online, plus the game it's self, looks like crap.
Trees in the middle of the road, sim's are retarded, tiny map, etc.

Just got the latest update for the game.
    Still crashes on startup.
I'm done with it, the game is trash, end of story ^^.

I should of expected that from a company that hasn't made a decent game in 16 years.

Not to blame you or anything like that but your game issues seem to be user created. I have a system much like yours and have had no issues playing every game that you have mentioned minus LA. I agree with other people saying that there is something you are not doing correctly. Be that driver issues and or direct X issues. All i am trying to say is that the games are not the issue but you and/or something about your system seems to be the issue.

    My guess is Win2K3

Edit: Regarding Tomb Raider, if you can look past all the quick time events, its pretty decent

NEOAethyr, we are trying to politely tell you that the issue is not game related but it is a problem with your PC.

I have an XBOX 360 controller and a Fanatec Racing wheel. Neither of them cause my games to not load when I attempt to open them.
100% of the games that I have installed (about 25, in or outside of Steam) all ran perfectly fine on my 6950 and now they all run perfectly fine on my 690.

I think that you may need to do some serious troubleshooting before blaming the game companies.

For starters disable programs like EVGA precision that have a .DLL hook.

I though it might be steam, because that won't install on my setup.
Though I usually am able to get around that but not this time.
It was either that or the exclusive full screen mode crash people are talking about with this game.
But I couldn't even get to any options to mess with that.
Did try a reg file to pre-set it supposedly but that didn't work.

It might be my power supply though.
It's making a high pitched noise now, bugging the heck out of me too :|.
And my systems stability went kaput.
I had to down clock to use my system just for net surfing.
    Running it at 2.6ghz .

So I'm in need of a new psu, and probably new system too.
I need a new cpu anyways, was only getting around 13fps for 720x480 422 h.264 lossless encoding.
I'de prefer to get the full frame rate, but if there's no way I'm gonna beable to I'll have to resort to encoding raw (huge waste of space for the 1st few stages of an encode, cutting, etc).

I`ll add that I use EVGA precision and all the games you mentioned work fine.

Neo, the problem is probably your operating systems. Neither of those have the full features that a normal OS has so if things simply dont start, wont install, or crash then you probably need to fix your OS installation with a normal one that has all proper files in it for desktop use.
    Rig 1:
    ASUS P8Z77-V
    Intel i5 3570K @ 4.75GHz

    Nvidia GTX 670 4GB SLI

    Rig 2:
    Asus Sabertooth 990FX
    AMD FX-8350 @ 5.6GHz
    16GB of Mushkin DDR-1866 RAM (8-9-8-26-1T)
AMD 6950 with 6970 bios flash
