Hi, everyone.
I start this thread for 'wytiwx', and his turn now.![]()

Cedar Mill is old, but still have something interesting to do.
I tried some mobo s which are unfriendly to Celeron D (Cedar Mill). 'unfriendly' means you can't post or overclock Celeron D on those mobo s without any mod.
Now I post some works, and I appreciate more info and help.![]()

First come is P45 chipset. How to run Cedar Mill on P45?
P45 do 800Mhz FSB at least, Cedar Mill do 533MHz FSB by default.
So the first thing is FSB 533 to 800 pinmod.
For pins insulating/isolating, can use double-sided tape or insulating adhesive.
For pins shorting, can use aluminum foil or conductive adhesive.
Remember: do not short pins directly, insulate/isolate pins first.
BSEL1 connected to VCC is OK, but not necessary. You also can isolate BSEL1 on some P45 mobo.
BSEL0 can connect to VSS (H28), but inconvenient and risk.

Why I connect BSEL0 to E28 not E29?
In Celeron D datasheet, E29 connect to VSS, but on P45 mobo, E29 not connect to VSS always.

This is my FSB 533 to 800 pinmod CPU_Celeron D 347 (D0 stepping)

The second thing is VID mod.
Many P45 mobo s are designed with VRD11.1 PWM and power phase, so VID mod should do.
How to know VID of a Celeron D? I use Gigabyte EP35 mobo, it can tell me VID.
My Celeron D 347 VID is 1.2625V (VRD10.1), so I did VID mod like this:

Now working on Gigabyte EP45-DS4, ASUS P5Q Pro and DFI LT X48-T2R.
Maybe the mobo's BIOS stop me, mobo post with C1 error (Award BIOS).
Need help![]()
Is it wrong that this excites me more than a 7 GHz Ivy Bridge?![]()

Gigabyte EP45-DS4 finally done, need one more pinmod: BOOTSELECT (Y1).
But I can't save any BIOS setting, so I have to load default setting. That's a little hard work.

Celeron D worked fine on many ASUS X38, X48 mobo s but Rampage Extreme, here was the thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ead.php?244033
Since Rampage Extreme can bin Pentium 4, so it's not so hard to bin Celeron D.
By FSB 800 pinmod, Rampage Extreme can say 'Hi' to Celly
Mod way: FSB 800 mod
Mobo: ASUS Rampage Extreme
Cooling: air
BIOS Version: 1301
Ambient temp: 25C

First I see hipro5 on HWBot. Then I see this on XS. Sometimes the past strikes back. Thank you for the post!
It's pretty interesting that:
1) BSEL mod works (Asus started blocking it on 945P boards)
2) BSEL mod is enough (like Rampage Extreme)
Could you share those MoBo datasheets you've inserted info from?
C1 on Award means memory problems. Maybe it's the strap+mem ratio problem. As for DFI X38/X48 LT they work only with Core CPUs. My X38 LT T2R doesn't boot even with Pentium D. But DFI P35-T2R works fine. Sounds like racism
I can help you check more ideas as I'm fond of modding hw too.
P.S. I think X-mods is a more proper section for this thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...83-Xtreme-Mods
Very interesting thread as usual from you...you're the Celeron man xD
Do you guys have any idea on how to get a prescott to run on a tpower i45, as the board does not support it![]()
