Yep,...... as I played around with gpu clocks and voltages it did not take long to realise that the problem was not going to be errors but invalids.

I know these cards seem to clock well but each time i had increased speed, although it ran fine, I would see invalids until I bumped the volts a little too.

It did not take very much each time to fix it but there will always be a limit beyond which I am not prepared to go and so I stick at my limit.

The alternate way is perhaps to set the highest volts you want to run at then bump speed until these invalids occur then back of the speed a bit.

3 is borderline OK in my book..... shouldn't need very much adjustment at all.

Gpu has been at the same clocks for days? I did bump my 3820 from 4.2 to 4.4. Could be I was lazy and used auto overclock setting in bios lol. My new Intel system is nothing like my old AMD rig. So far I'm running 10 gpu task getting 120,000 BOINC ppd.

So, what's your voltage limit for a 7970? ghz version, if it matters.

I get them here and there, sometimes 1-2 a day and sometimes none for a few days. I know I need to up my voltage a notch, just need to find time to flash my cards BIOS to unlock the 1.25v it's set at now.

For 24/7 operations my max 7970 voltage is the minimum voltage required to stabilize the card up to 1.35v as long as I can keep the temps at 70 deg C or less for crunchers. I have never been higher than 1.32 before running out of temp headroom.

Read this short Thread for more details: Max 24/7 safe voltage for 7970?
