Intel Next-gen performance platform Chipset to be X99

the source let us know that the next-generation performance range of CPUs will be coming by the end of the year, and not 2014 as previous speculated. This news comes from a source that is very close to the subject. While we suspect this to be Ivy Bridge-E based, our source wasn't exactly clear and it could end up being Haswell-E, with Ivy Bridge-E being skipped. We do know, however, that the next-gen performance chip will make use of a chipset called X99

Hope this is true, I look forward to it. I want a high end platform with more native SATA 3 and USB 3 ports along with a nice 8+ core CPU as well would be a dream come true.

if they skipped IVY-E and just brought out Haswell-E close to the launch of normal Hasewell that would make the high end platform much more valuable.

I don't think Intel would skip IB-E but Haswell-E might be 'on time', if a company delays one project it doesn't always mean the whole pipeline is slowed. But I think Haswell-E will make LGA2011 seem cheap when you throw DDR4 in the mix.

well in an ideal world they would play hasewell-E like they did with Nehalem. Launch the high end parts BEFORE the midrange. This would help them add allot of value to the highend platform IMO. and I don't mean push back the midrange parts but rather launch hasewell-E in a month or so. This would allow the people who are willing to pay the big bucks for the best solution to actually get the best solution and get it first.

but that will never happen so I can stop dreaming...

I haven't seen any particularly positive reviews of sandy E. the same is likely of Ivy E if haswell comes out first.

I don't see the logic of releasing Ivy-E unless haswell sucks.

Some people do need more cores (professional segment). And that's the target audience of SB-E and IB-E.

There was a thread on this in the news section, but I can't seem to find it.

Basically, yes. Intel wants to leave the mobo industry. Not many here will care. lol

I want a Micro ATX board with true dual x16 lanes. There's not enough out there, and I'd like to get off this Asus HOG POS I've been on for the last 2 years.

X58 had and still has a lot of longevity

X79 was barely any better in most things, the only nice thing was native Sata 3 and USB 3.

USB3 isn't native tho...(so it's only sata3 which can be fixed with an addon card)
