    Low latency Q U A L I T Y DDR3.

    Let me stress that again...Q U A L I T Y.

I'm looking for some very low latency ram kits--CAS 6 or...*sigh* 7, if possible. I know that this stuff is out there. The thing is, I'm having problems actually finding it. Will you kindly point me in the right direction?

    My goal: DDR3 2K+ @ 6 or 7 CAS latency ala an 16GB or 8GB kit.

    Mountain Mods Ascension (modded)
    CPU: i7 920 @ 4GHz + EK Supreme HF (plate #1)
GPU: GTX 670 3-Way SLI + XSPC Razor GTX670 water blocks
Mobo: ASUS Rampage III Extreme + EK FB R3E water block
    RAM: 3x 2GB Mushkin Enhanced Ridgeback DDR3 @ 6-8-6-24 1T
    SSD: Crucial M4 256GB, 0309 firmware
PSU: 2x Corsair HX1000s on separate circuits

I haven't seen any 2x 4GB 2000+ MHz. CL6 RAM kits, let alone 2x 8GB. or 4x 4GB. kits. More than likely you will probably need to buy CL10 2400+ RAM and try to tighten the timings with it running @ 2000 MHz. I would think that if you contact G.Skill, Corsair, Mushkin, Crucial/Micron etc. they can advise if they actually offer what you are looking for and if so a part number.

As the RAM frequency increases so does the CL, even if the real time stays close to the same. As an example CL6 @ 1600 MHz. is approx. the same real time as CL8 @ 2000 MHz, i.e. 7.5ns vs. 8.0ns, respectively for first word read. The link below has a nice chart to show the relationship of clock cycle time to frequency.

Your only bet is older ddr3 that comes in 2gb double sided sticks...max of 8gb with 4 slots populated.
    PSC or BBSE, maybe Hypers.
You got that rig in your sig? You're gonna be limited by your cpu's imc anyway...doubt you can stuff over 2000mhz with a 920, you'd need an 870 or a 980x for that, or an Ivy bridge or Bulldozer/Piledriver/Llano/Trinity rig.

I supose 2000 CL7 for bench not for stability
There are something 2*4GB double sided modules, that might do that:
    Crucial Tactical LP 1600CL8 1.35V - Micron D9QMT:
    2000 CL 7-7-8-24-1T, 1.71v, 32M stable.

They scale a little tRP, and than with tRCD.
They not scale above 1.73v, i think they are 30nm Micron chips as Samsung 30nm.
    They can do
    1866 CL 8-8-8-24-1T 1.5v Memtest stable
    2000 CL 8-8-8-24-1T 1.6v Memtest
    2133 CL 9-9-9-24-1T 1.5v Memtest
    2250 CL 9-9-9-24-1T 1.6V Memtest
    2400 CL 10-10-10-24-1T 1.6v Memtest

    As for Super PI 32m

    2000 7-7-8-24-1T 1.71v
    2200 8-8-8-24-1T
    2300 8-9-9-24-1T
    2450 9-9-9-24-1T
2600 10-10-10-27-1T (single channel only testest because of the platform)

    Thanks for the input, guys.

Xdan, where in the world did you get that sweet module?

My tests are on AMD AM3+, FX 8320+ Sabertooth 990FX.
On Intel IB could work a little worse, but still they are the best shoot for what you want.
See other pictures here in this thread:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...R3-Kits/page16

There are on newegg for 52$
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148656
I bought them from a store from my country.

There all other Crucial kits, but only LP 1.35V CL8 are i think D9QMT.
    Other are D9PFJ/ D9QMS
    Order or aparition are D9PFJ -> D9QMS -> D9QMT

D9PFJ and D9QMS scale above 1.75v up to 2.0v but they aren't stable above 2200, and above 2400 they don't work.
With LP D9QMT i have an validation at 2780Mhz CL11-11-

I found some time ago this thread:
    http://www.ocxtreme.org/forumenus/showthread.php?t=6536
And i thought this is very good memory.

The second/ third latencys are a little relaxed, but with some tweaks i succeded in having a better score than with Elpida Hyper.
    Initialy 1s slower than a 2*2GB Elpida Hyper MNH-E kit .
Hyper( i worked one hour they are barely stable even on AM3+ even with 1.75-1.8v)
On IB it's even harder to stabylise them.

Crucial, stable as hell, 4s better with some tweaks on second latency, on Hyper i couldn't tweak anything.

Good looking out xdan (thank you). I'm just trying to keep the latency as low as possible, if I have to upgrade to Ivy, I'll upgade to Ivy. LOL@these Crucial kits being low profile. Great price, too!

    Ah you're on 1366?
Just one advise, buy 2*dual channel kit or a 4*4GB kit. You will have one module as reserve.
I bought a single module too ( 27$) and it's not so binned as the modules from dual channel kit.

This week another kit is coming, and may be i will send to a friend to test it on IB.

Do noy buy 8GB modules, they are other chips, pretty good fot their capacity but they do from what i heard only 1866 CL9-9- and 2133 CL 11-11-

Cpu upgrade would be great, but wit the price those chips command...it's kinda hard to reccomend.
The six core chips are still beasts to this day and have massive overclocking headroom.

i7 990x for 'only' $555 (at the time of this posting): http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Intel-Co...item3ccf01cbb2

Nice! If you can afford it it's a BEAST of a chip, specially awesome if you're into benching with dry ice or ln2 or plan to do that any time soon.

How would this affect gaming/benchmark performance over my current setup? Sure, I want the extra performance, but, is it really worth spending the extra money and effort to rebuild my entire system?

First of all: CL6 wont happen unless great IMC and 4x2GB RAM.... 16GB it wont happen at all.
Ivanlabrie, hypers wont work at DDR3-2000 CL6 with any ivy setups to my knowledge.

Unfortunately you have to go 2*2GB if you want good clocks at low latency, 2*4 wont do.... 2*8 not a chance
Personally I'd say; Buy 2*8 and settle with that for a home build, then use some 2*2 for benchmarking...

    If wanting something good for 8GB density, G.Skill has some ripjaws-X DDR3-2133 C9 at low price - and ddr3-2400 c10 ripjaws-z

The faster RAM timings won't make any significant change in system performance unlike in the old days of DDR and DDR2.

This is something I've been looking for too. I know back when DDR3 was first becoming mainstream on the market there were quite a few CAS6 kits in the 1333, 1600, and I believe even 1866 range. Honestly I'm happy with my OCZ Reapers that do 6-7-6-20 1500Mhz. Only downside is just 2x2GB. But Im never limited by my RAM currently with what I do so I'll hold out until a good 2x4GB kit is available.

My old Dominator GT did 1600Mhz @ 6-6-5-15... They broke though, so now I bought 12GB of those previously mentioned Crucial Tactical 1.35v. Let's see what they can do.

If you`re still running 3x setup, and looking for 2000+ 4gb sticks, the only ones running C8 are Geil and Gskill Trident month 6/7 2010, as far as I know(Said to be Elpida). C7 tops out ~1900.
Hynix AFR/BFR lack 100Mhz on the same timings, but go higher on relaxed timings.
Sammy 8Gb sticks run ~25Mhz better than Hynix BFR timing-wise. Performance is almost equal.
