    brand new 8350 fx

    hi guys

So i got my new fx 8350 and was extremly eager to get it under testing, rushed home and installed it only to find pc wont post :/ board powers on and doesnt beep and just sits there with all fans spinning really slow....

now im thinking have i really been unlucky enough to get or dead on arrival or is it my Asus corshair Formula v motherboard having a mind of its own again....

basicly when upgraded my cpu b4 from 4 core to 6 core i had a simlilar problem where the mobo didnt boot after installing the new cpu, some how i got around it (cant remember how).

i noticed sometimes when oc fails and mobo reboots i had similar symtoms but a reset would normally get it to post and boot up again. not sure whats going on but im sure the new cpu is fine and the mobo is acting strange.

i ve now put back in old cpu and all is working again.

maybe its coz i still had over clocked settings in bios so ive reset to optimised defaults and i am about to try the fx 8350 again now i ll post whats happens,

if anyone has any experience with these asus boards i would really appreicaite some tips if possible, anyone experience anything similar to this? im thinking the board is to clever for me :< and kinda has i mind of its own

or maybe i have a defect board? i m kinda lost atm, any help would be greatly recieved !

Reset/clear cmos of all old OC parameters may help. I had the same problem when i got my 8350 too. Well to cut the story short I had the 1703 bios with a 1090t runin at 4GHz. After droppin in my 8350 my system diidn?t boot until i got my board to it?s default setting. Atm am running my with the 1605 Bios which i find more stable for my setup.

    Is this is your motherboard?
    http://www.asus.com/ROG/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULA/#overview

This is the link for latest BIOS for your board:
    http://www.asus.com/ROG/CROSSHAIR_V_...rev.C0,AM3+%29

    Date of the file: 2012.10.24
    Version: 1703

I think you need this BIOS version in order to boot up your 8350,at least according to that last link I posted:
    Crosshair V Formula BIOS 1703
    1.Improve system stability.
2.Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/c...Language=en-us

Have you set the memory divider manualy,? just go to the memory frequency in bios and set it to 1600, set correct voltage for the dimms, and the timings, and you should be good to go...

The rated voltage for your ram should be on a sticker on the Dimms themselves, or if you use CPU-Z, go to the SPD tab, it will show the rated voltage at the bottom. Hope this helps...
If i remember corectly, you sticks are 1.60v,???.

FYI - anyone upgrading from an older model (AM3+) CPU to a newer model CPU needs to update the BIOS for it to read the new CPU I.D. on boot. Some BIOS will boot and tell you it is an "Unknown CPU" but many BIOS won't boot at all if it can't properly identify the new CPU, which it won't be able to do without the appropriate updated BIOS.

Yes, most of us experienced and more mature enthusiasts know this, but good advice for novices.

I assume this only applies to the first generation of AM3+ mobos and not the second. Can't the shipping bios' of the newer boot w/ zambezi/vishera cores?
