Minnesota is getting ready for a nice storm too. 4 to 12 inches predicted. We will send it your way when we are done with it.

<-- I'm half way between Boston and Cape Cod ... gonna get buried by this one!
I'm just hoping I don't lose power so I can keep crunching ... (don't want the pipes to freeze either)
Wind is starting to pick up a bit now but it's still a few more hours before it the snow starts to come down in earnest.

I used to go to florida in the winter, hit disneyworld and universal. It would be 10-20 degrees below zero at home and 50 degrees in florida... people would look at me like a space alien for wearing shorts.

I guess the tentacles were distracting.

I know that feeling. I did the same when I lived in Florida and everyone is bundled like it is 30 outside. Hell, I wear shorts as long as it is above 40.

Good luck movieman! I hope you didn't lose power. Heard that winds were 50+ mph.

We got a decent amount of snow here (Niagara), winds were pretty calm though. Temps nice and mild too, makes plowing snow on the cabless Deere more enjoyable.

The Northeast is getting hammered due to the two storms colliding. The small one that came from the West dropped modest snow but the two storms combined are devastating to a stretch of the East coast. Power outages are the big concern as repair crews won't be able to get to many places with up to 36" of snow so people could be without power for a week. Those who have some form of heat might be OK, but this storm will prove deadly for some folks...

Wishing everyone a safe passage thru this historic storm.

That's great. Hope you don't lose power. If ya do, you can use any flame source to make some. I made coffee in my fireplace back in 06 when we last power for a few days.

That reminds me, I owe a friend of mine my chipotle salsa and salsa roja recipes. And I still need to introduce the g/f to chile con queso.

Power has been out since 10 pm.
At least 3-4 trees down but thankfully none landed on the house.
Boiled water stored in a thermos + Starbucks VIA instant made a decent cup this morning
Not looking forward to snow blowing the driveway and fire hydrant without the promise of a hot shower afterwards

Didn't get to sleep till 6am BUT I have my coffee and Dear Lord in heaven I have never seen this much snow.
My well head out in the front yard is app 29" off the ground and I can just barely see the top of it..
Got plenty of food and smokes to cover me till at least Wednesday so i don't care!

Over a half million people are without power and many without heat. With 20-30 F temps, not only are water lines going to freeze and burst, people without any heat source that can't get out of their residence are in deep trouble so keep that in mind if you can help anyone in your area. The power outages are going to take days to resolve and people have died already...

When I get a house one thing high on my list will be to get a generator hooked up. And replace the hot water tank with a gas unit if it isn't gas already. We can sometimes get some pretty serious winter storms here in Ohio on occasion too.
