Never mind moorhen2 ,continue please and keep us updated ( I think that user does not like FX that much ). I'd really like to hear about the "feel" new setup gives you compared to the old i7s.
What's the current status, have you started assembling it yet?

OC'ing is an adventure of exploration, not a hassle, though it can have it's moments of frustration.

Looks great. Can you bake me some fresh bread while I watch you OC?

Do you use your PC as a heat source also?

At what? Should feel slower at games (because it is) and trade benches at business apps. His room should feel warmer.

Is there anything we don't know about Visheras? Or for that matter SB and IB?

My guess is the only place he notices a difference is with slower gaming.

@Rollo, i dont game,so that argument is going nowhere, and intel chips run way hotter than AMD, again that argument going nowhere, rant over..

I love people talking about CPU limited gaming at high resolutions in 2013. It's great since intel needs more users like you, believing that shader bound games need moar IPC . Also gaming on PC as primary purpose of the machine is like driving your BWM sedan on country road 20mph. Useless. People do actual work on their machines and even if they like gaming FX8350 is way more than enough to provide fluid gameplay with high end graphics in HD resolution in 99.9% of the games today. Claiming otherwise is BS,sorry.

35 years in a game that is constantly changing means nothing. It's like saying you've had 35 years in the automotive engineering business, the cars of 1978 are not the cars of 2013.

The current gen AMD CPUs run just as hot as intel, enough said.

Intel's stock HSF is a paperweight compared to AMD's meaty heatpipe HSF and intel for good reason doesn't mind shipping their CPUs a little bit warmer so don't even make the comparison there.

Sorry but 5 FPS matters to some people.
Go look at the performance yourself, if the AMD rig gets 55.7 FPS instead of 61.2 FPS it's a big deal. That's ~10% just from the CPU in something that should be a GPU bottleneck.
    This is XtremeSystems, brother.

Also in MT workloads AMD FX uses so much more power that the performance lead it has in anything turns into an efficiency loss.
Don't get me wrong, I love my AMD CPUs but I still wouldn't recommend them against 2600K/3770K for normal at-home users.

AMD has finally superseded any of Phenom II performance on a regular basis so I'm a bit more proud of Piledriver than Bulldozer. Still, limiting 8 threads to 60% execution cap on a 4-core intel CPU is as decent as an AMD 8-core CPU currently.

I see lots of good in AMD's future for lower power/low-cost <18w TDP on TSMC...

GloFo needs to get it's s**t together and AMD is playing huge catch up in design.
