    CSX Diablo 2000 @ x58

We got the chance to play with these sticks on a x58 platform and we where quite impressed:

all tests is done with 1.64vdimm, as this test was to compare to oldschool micron kits and see what they where up to

whole xls is soon downloadable from the site, aswell some pictures will be up asap

    Hi

That's really good performance!!! Are you going to test the CSX 2Gb GTR sticks also??

Can anyone confirm which boards will have a totally independent (from QPI) vDIMM adjustment like MSI Eclipse... I have 8gb Viper 2000 & 8Gb CSX Diablo 2000 kits that I'm not willing to replace just now when switching to X58 & would like to run them at their max speed with 2.0v

currently no sorry, but if you have a look at the tri channel kit test we did with 1 g.skill stick, its likely similar results you will see, compared to if we have used a csx stick with csx spd instead of the used g.skill

but i cant say we wont test with a third stick, if we get the change sure we will put it trough the test done above + with more vdim

and currently are they testing sticks with samsung ICs that might turns into tri channel kits

Well, the numbers look high. Hopefully you will be able to get some more diablo sticks and even do 12gbs testing

Hello, guys. Can anybody tell me would 4 sticks of Diablo CSX 2000 memory work stable on my Asus P5N64 Ws Pro (nVidia 790i) motherboard? I mean 2x2Gb+2x2Gb=8Gb. And if it is, at what maximum frequency? 133Mhz or may be a little higher? I wanna install a maximum of possible amount of memory and now I need to decide to buy 4 sticks or only 2.
Thanks. Sorry if it is not correct thread I wrote.

The less amount of sticks = the better. You give less stress to the NB.

But whether enough for today 4Gb of memory? Isn't it better to install the maximum amount of memory to not upgrade it in the future? And if so, how that stress might manifest? Сould this affect the system stability?

If you are into overclocking, you will most probably achieve higher overclocks with less sticks. You can just get all 8gbs of RAM to avoid having to spend time overclocking now with 4gbs and later again with 8gbs. Its up to you.

So what do you think would be the best chiose, how would you do in this case? I read many forums and found there that so much users have many problems installing OCZ memory (2 sticks) on nVidia 790i chipset motherboards. And on many forums users writes that there are may be many stability problems installing 4 sticks on nVidia 790i chipset motherboards at all - any memory. So if 8 Gb will work stable at least on 1333MHz (but I need to know it, if it is) I would by it and it is not scares me that I'll can not overclock it.

P.S. The thing is I don't want to upgrade memory in the future, because such great mamory is not in stock in my country, so I'll order it in online shop. Thats why I'm asking.

In that case, I would definitely go for the 8Gbs. The reason, like I said, because later on you if you upgrade from 4 to 8 you dont want to deal with inestabilities (setting up voltages to set it to work at 8gbs).

So get all 8gbs of RAM. They will definitely work on 1333Mhz (I have seen people on ASUS forums with 8gbs working perfectly). Even though I havent tried 8gbs myself, Im pretty sure if you dont push them past 1600mhz, they will work fine. Just play with the NB and RAM voltages once and have your system stable and leave it there. Of course, make sure to test stick by stick to make sure all of them are in working conditions (memtest86+ to check in DOS).

Or course I'll test all of sticks with memtest. Ok. Now I now they will work on 1333Mhz. And if I'll try them at 1600Mhz, is there any chance they all work stable at this frequency?

The only place you will find that answer will be on your motherboard. Some boards like 1600Mhz 8-8-8-18 some just dont like 1600 at all. It all depends on your board, skills and patience.

So may be it is not needed to buy Diablo 2000Mhz if I'll install 8Gb, may be Diablo 1600Mhz will be the same in that case but cheaper? What do you think?

Since the 2000Mhz sticks are higher binned, you will have more chances to run the sticks at 1600mhz with less voltage compared to if you buy 1600mhz sticks.

    Hey,

I may be able to help you there. The NV790i is indeed very picky about memory, but I did a build about a year ago using 8GB Diablo DDR3-2000 mems. I tried to get 2Ghz ram stable but it wasn't possible, the NB of the mobo gave out. After about a day of tweaking I managed to stabilize 1800Mhz C8, still pretty hard to do. NB voltage, VTT and Vdimm have to be pretty balanced or it will lock up/freeze, 1600 was rather easy tho. It all depends on the quality of your NB, 50% are good 50% are crap, so it's luck of the draw really.

If you don't have a pair of 2000's already I'd say buying 1600's is enough, just be sure to get matched sticks. And try to get Microns, the 790i likes D9GTS/R. Also run 2T with 4 sticks.

Thanks to you all, guys. When I'll buy it, I'll ask you for help with voltages, frequencies etc. Thanks again for your competition.
