    High-end Power Cord - Anyone?

Since this is under "xtremesystems" forum site I think it's reasonable to discuss about high-end power cords.

Been shopping around for power cords for the last 3 months. Been in contact with the Coconut-Audio who makes one of the most prestigious / exotic cables in the world.

The cable build has been complete (3 month build time), and asked to have my name engraved "cheez" on the cable, with the build # "001". This is a White Night Power Distributor with the length of 2.5 meters. One end uses Furutech FI-11M(Cu) plug and the other end is the Furutech power outlets of six, which is also made with top-notch components and craftsmanship.

My name engraved for no additional cost.

The retail price is $50,000.00. Got it for real cheap as I am an early adopter and been in close relationship with the seller.

I tell ya.... I'm so happy and excited. Wanted to congrat myself.

Dare I say it looks like a bit of a "Monster" to me ???

As it is not April 1 I will not sit on the fence. I will declare myself as being one of the unbelievers for the simple reason that I have never understood how, when the circuit from your fuse board may be 20 or more meters long with other outlets included and using wiring that is "nothing special", adding an exotic cable that is 2.5 meters long will make a huge difference. The proviso here is that beyond having a wonderous way of laying up the cable there is no other circuitry.

I am happy that you are happy with your new toy but well...... such things are not for me.

I understand how exotic cables can work when it comes to speakers and interconnects but in the area of power cords I must be missing something

It's the last segment (between your wall outlet to the audio equipment) that counts when it comes to power cords. What it does is it does the cleaning, meaning reduce (or remove) the dirty electrical noise (frequencies other than 50 or 60 hz that the gears need). They call it skin filtering effect. It's about filtration, similar to the filters used for collecting dirt when you make coffee.

Considering this cable is made in Sweden, made by highly dedicated people, it's like driving off a brand new Koenigsegg Agera-R like you stole it.

The cable has been ordered and already shipped out from Sweden. It will take about 10 days to arrive..

I used to be like you some time ago. But realized that the power cable plays very important role, not only delivering power your gear needs but to get you that super clean power.

This thing costs more than my car. So thankful I got it for so cheap.

It sure does look like a monster. The guy was building this cable for me 3 months ago. He had no pics to show me before the product was finished. I knew what the front end was going to look like, similar to the other high-end power cords he makes, but the outlet end???? I had no clue. All I knew then for a fact was it will have 6 outlets. When he finally showed me the pic of the outlets I was like wtf... Looked so wild, bizarre. It sorta looks like black Oreo cookie crumbs spread on whip cream, or Zebra cloth?? But it's actually black crystals, one of the exotic ingredients he uses. This one is one particular, special because this is the only cable that looks like this. The original plan was to build this cable equivalent to the standard version White Night Power 5m which retails for $25k. But it turned out it sounds as good as the near-the-top-end-model Ice King which retails for $50k.

Watch this video. He shows my name engraved on the cable.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4mwNlRnuaQ

This means it beats the Hyper Space 4m and 5m with ease. That's scary.

This power cable distributor will power up the following devices:

    - Plasma TV
    - HTPC
    - Focal CMS65 studio monitors

I'm guessing the cable cost more than your audio setup. Surely there would be a huge bottle neck before you hear the "magical" effects of the cable.

Of course. The most expensive component in my setup will be the power cable.

That depends... You don't have to spend a lot of money on audio equipment to obtain benefits from the power cable. Usually the big and high powered speakers and amps that degrade sound quality due to more watts being drawn to, meaning more electrical noise that infects the system.

Thats the weirdest looking snake i've ever seen, but I guess as long as it enjoys the power plug stuck to its nose and having its head wrapped in some plasticine its all good

A cable cant do any filtering like that though. So you are saying they have active devices in line that do the filtering? Why would there be any difference at all from splicing these filtering devices inline as opposed to plugging them into a filter with shielded connectors?

Also, having these filtering in line and using this cable for your audio and video stuff is actually a bad thing. Each of those devices operates different frequeny ranges of devices so if you filter out some frequencies really well so you have nice and clean power signal for audio, then video will be terrible since all those frequency ranges are cut out.

Video display devices require power and it is the 60hz (or 50hz) frequency it needs just like the audio equipment. They don't work the same way as the audio cables.

How does a fat bit of cable between the wall and the equipment do anything for the power that's already gone through the power lines and in-wall cable?

    Here you go.

    http://www.lessloss.com/dfpc-signature-p-199.html

It's much cheaper cable but it explains about how the last several feet makes the difference in your home from the generator.

Well, we'll see how it turns out after I receive it and listen. The maker of the cable states it will also need a good couple of months of burn-in (oh I mean settle in).
