We could always use more speed.

I've been recently getting up to date on my drivers and settings for my video card, since I now got a 3d monitor and glasses.
I found it's not as quite as turn key as I was expecting.
I did get some of my games to use aa and at an alright speed.
That aa flag setting seems to me somewhat of a hack type of thing, it's setup in methods I guess.
For example I'm using the value 0x000012C1 on dead island, works good enough but has some glitchy transparent lines in some places of the game.

Some aa flag's slow the game down alot, some not so much.
3d without aa sometimes is good speed, other times poor.
From what I've heard the same can go with sli, with it's compatibility flag setting for each game.

I still need to try clocking my cpu up and my vga card to see what effects it has on speed when it's needs it.
It's kinda surprising but there are games that can hit the 680 hard if you push it.

If you want 1080p or higher res, with 3d and or aa, the more the speed the better.
From what I can tell, the 680 might be enough to do all that at 1080p, 3d plus aa, only if every single setting is perfect for every game you run across essentially.
Honestly, my opinion at the "moment", 2way sli 680's(maybe 670's) or a 690 may be the way to go if you need 3d, or higher res then 1080(like 1440 or 1600).
It's just might be easier to get the performance you need without as much hassle.
That is if you can get each game or app you need to work with sli correctly (again supposedly needs some fiddling on it's own).

An even faster card then the 680...
    That would be cool.
But I just bought this one not that long ago, the 680.
If I buy another vga card anytime soon, it would be for sli and that would be it.

As for card's past say the $600 mark.
I'de be willing to pay an extra $100 on top of the avg price of the high end cards for a quadro.
    I like quadro's.
Also it would be nice to see passive 3d(full sbs, dual projector/clone mode).

I hope it's a winner. I'm on the market for a single chip card that will push every game I play on max.

680 wasn't just a medium size chip. it matched 7970 performance! nvidia obviously beefed it up to being "true high end" because they knew GK110 would take longer and be dedicated to supercomputers. here we are a year later.

Really? Why? Hasnt every other model of vid card been available in high performance versions? If correct then yes the soldering iron will come out ....

Its why it is needed to take thoses informations / rumors about titan a bit with a lot of cares ... If Nvidia want to release a single "extreme card" based on the K20.. at 900$ in wait of release the rest of the series... limited quantity ( 600 - 1000 pieces ) .. high price.. a single design, no overclocking etc .. well.. huum. a bit strange no ?

Not at all, there have been other reference onle cards in the past. For sure the GTX690, the 512MB 7800GTX. I think the first dual GPU sandwich cards are as well.

Personally, I'd rather take a soldering iron to my nutsack than a $900 video card, but to each their own. (you're probably better with a soldering iron than I)

    (shrugs)

I guess if I were independently wealthy I'd do things like risk throwing away $900 for another 10 or 20fps, but I work for a living and have multiple family members, recreational vehicles, and a couple properties to maintain.

It's one thing to slap a water block on a card and overclock it, another altogether to risk destroying it to get a few more fps.

Indeed Rollo, its not realistic to destroy a $900 vid card, the guys that get them for free via sponsorship etc will do that and not flinch but I would have my nutsack removed by my wife if she found out I just fried >$1000 AUD .....

Realistically I will do as you said, GK110 + waterblock + crank it up

Besides, the 680 soldering points are damn tiny, I can hardly see them even under my magnifying glass so I have no chance of successfully modding anything late model ....

I am still using GTX 480s in a 3-Way SLI configuration. Thank you, devs (console pandering) for not upping the ante for PC games.

Even when these new GTX 780s (or whatever) are released, what's the point? Games are still stuck in DX9 mode. Souped-up DX11 games are rare. I expect DX12 in 2020 after the 'PS5' and 'NextBox 4K' are released.

A report of a repost of a stupid rumour! Yay, journalism!

I remember calls to ban Kitguru on XS several years ago, this time around it should be WCCFtech.

On topic: I think it's a good idea to just wait for the release before passing any judgement seeing as the rumours are getting completely out of hand.

WCCFTech is not the source. That's Quasar admin and PHK. (same person ?)
If you have followed last graphics cards launch, the same guys were present. RedQuasar has given the first shoot of the GTX680 and PHK a lot of details before the launch.
PHK is a really valuable source for sure but that's not him who said that Titan is faster than GTX 690.

Exactly, WCCFtech is not the source. Never is. It is a repost-fest which doesn't even always credit the actual source. Yet all I see linked on various forums is this rehashed information ("source: WCCFtech") instead of the original stuff. And that's my main gripe. I have no issues with original sources (provided they are not full of ****).

WCCFtech does not deserve the hits.

I could see this happening...under one specific condition:
Titan is a Dual GK110 card.

    That would certainly make sense:

    GTX680=100%
GTX690=90% (slightly lower clocks) x2=180% (theoretical, not taking SLI scaling into account)
GK110 Single=150% (theoretical card at 850 MHz and ca. 250W TDP)
    GK110 Dual=150% x0.8 (lower clocks, 650-700 MHz) x2 = 240%

    2x3GB=6GB...check
    $999...check
    Titan(ic) performance...check
    Faster than GTX690...check

I've heard the 6Gb and the $999 price tag from two independent sources now, and for a single GPU card this doesn't make sense AT ALL

    GTX590 was GTX580 x1.6, too.

I don't believe this for a second. Dual GK110 would be much more expensive. See current GTX 690 pricing...

Most likely performance is overestimated (which happens with nearly every GPU launch these days it seems).
