Was really hoping to eventually settle the cards in at 1Ghz core - not sure I will push memory that much.

Just concerned that they are being binned due to different versions now about to ship.

As long as I get reliable 1Ghz I will be thrilled. For $1k U.S. EACH they better reach that imho. The different SKUs from EVGA make me nervous I used to build entire top of the line PCs for $2k.

They neutered that card for regular overclocking, never mind extreme overclocking.

I wonder if we'll see an unlocked BIOS for the TDP or if it's limited by hardware...

What I want to know is, how much power cam the stock reference card VRM supply? If its only something like 280w before you blow a phase, the 265w cap is probably not something you want to circumvent.

Asus have the larger supply of chips, so i really doubt they have only lower binned chips.. just they have done a choice. ( maybe in prevision to release an " own versions" ( not Mars, but a DCIII )

Hardware, look like power management is a bit weak for extreme overclocking.

I just installed mine. Got to triple check but at default, no overclocking at all, the gpu goes 'apparently' up to 979MHz . (Only used the usual old real time HDR demo)
I guess we'll use the xs nvidia sub-forum for all the tests now.
Edit: GPU-Z reports 979.8MHz at stock indeed. (reached 1123MHz with max offset overclocking, stock cooler, default voltage).
Not sure what happens... My card has a default +105MHz overclock or it's the sensors or ... ???
Edit2: Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 5 reports 980MHz at default boost clock.

It's GPU Boost v2.0 apparently. The frequency can not only go lower but also higher.
In my case, under load, gpu stays at 980MHz, temp at max 80c (idle 33c) and fan speed never reached 60% yet.
Not complaining, just trying to understand. But then... why sell super clocked models ? New technology new things to learn.

Extreme overclockers will know where to get and / or who to ask for an unlocked BIOS. There's no worry about the 1%ers getting their Titans to perform extremely well under sub-zero conditions.

Thats assuming that the tdp limit is just a bios limit. Still, I'm sure that people will find a way to circumvent it. I'm just not sure that it'll be that easy.

For those still waiting for their Titan, I guess you have to wait a little longer...

Asus gpu tweak is quite nice indeed. Here is a picture with the advanced mode for overclocking.
HDR test with Boost offset set to 145: 1123MHz gpu frequency. That will end up throttling to 1110MHz under heavier load but still, quite impressive for stock cooler and stock voltage (and max. temp left at 80c).

Assuming it's true... Some people are already saying it's an incorrect translation from some other site...

If the initial batches of Titan do really well then maybe nv will be happy to let board partners cook up their own variants and sell more chips.
