Thumbs up Nvidia prepares slimmed down Geforce GTX Titan by GK110

According to the SweClockers now preparing a slimmed down Nvidia graphics card with circuit GK110, known from Geforce GTX Titan. The exact details are not yet known, but the source says that the graphics card is based on essentially the same configuration as Tesla, K20. That would mean 2496 CUDA cores, 320-bit memory bus, and 5 GB of GDDR5 memory. Nvidia has the opportunity to halve the amount of memory with the same bandwidth.

These specifications can be compared with 2688 CUDA cores, 384-bit memory bus, and 6 GB of GDDR5 memory on GeForce GTX Titan, which also suggests that the new graphics card is designed for a lower price range. Geforce GTX Titanium costs in the current situation around 9000 Euros including VAT.

The launch is expected to take place sometime in the third quarter, possibly in July or August.

    around 9000 Euros including VAT.

Anyways... hope they can make an interesting product that is somewhat affordable compared to the Titan madness. Having a gut feeling though that we will see something that slightly cannibalizes the 680 while still being too expensive.

In the original Swedish, it's "9 000 kronor inklusive moms [VAT]," and 9000 kronor is (according to Google) US$1400 or 1100 euros.

A 12 SMX and 256/320-bit GK110 would get quite close to the 680 (a GK104 refresh might even match it), depending on clocks of course. Maybe that part will end up in OEMs like the 560 Ti (OEM).

I fail to see the point... Too close to GTX 680, yet much more expensive.

The price is definitely not right or you guys got something wrong, after all, SweClockers claims that it's going to be a SLIMMED DOWN Titan... how can the slimmed down version have a higher MSRP ?

You are not reading it right. The quoted price from Sweclockers is the current GTX Titan price in Sweden.

I expect both price and performance inbetween GTX 680 and Titan (Duh!)

Which begs the question, why call it Titan to begin with and not just name it the 700 series?

Are we going to end up with at Titan Lite? Or a Titan LE? Maybe even a Titan MX 440?

I suppose this makes sense as there are surely Titans that fail a cluster of SPs. Perhaps these should be called "Titan Tots"?

I'm all for bringing back Ultra/GT/GS/LE naming schemes

Also, bios masked pipelines on the lower models would be a plus.

Still way too much. Shoot me if I ever think of spending that much on a card, anything above $500 is ridiculous and that's still pushing it.
