Need help to decide upon a new GFX

I'm on the hunt for a "bag for the buck" highend card.

I'v been looking a lot at the 7870, 7950 and 660Ti but am having a hard time deciding. I like that the 660 Ti has a more consistent frame rate and better frame latency, but they seem to be very close after the recent cat driver.

    Any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat trying to make up my mind. I want the 7950 but have enough cash for a 7850 now. I would like to try Crossfire for the first time. Is Crossfire a good way to go?

i think that the 7870 is the best bang for the buck, it is also only like $20 more than the 7850 right now on newegg. have you seen the 7870 joker, it has 1536 shaders and is made from a cut down 79xx gpu but with only 256bit on the memory controller.

7870 JokerCard. Uses a slightly cut down Tahiti GPU but costs a lot less than a 7950. Performance difference is minimal too.

No more so than a single 7950 would, in both cases dual graphics or more is the best solution.

I would try to avoid Crossfire on non high-end cards. I had HD5850 Crossfire, when they weren't high-end anymore, and they work fine, but they can't be compared to a single card.

I have an HD7950, and when overclocked (mine is at 1250Mhz) it's an excellent card. On 3DMark Fire Strike I get 7770. The "HD7930" is a great card also. But I remember a review where it didn't perform that well while overclocked. I'll see if I can find it...

TBH I wish I hadn't been so ambitions when I got a 7950... its not exactly been enjoyable, most of which is through no fault of its own. The only reason I replaced my OCd GTX460 wasn't due to a lack of grunt but due to a lack of vRAM. The card couldn't cope with all the HD texture mods I love to run. I suspect I would enjoy the 7950 more if I could mod the settings I want directly into the vBIOS and it does piss me off somewhat I can't. Anyone want to swap a GTX670/680 for my 7950?
